How is the wifi at cornell? Also does T-Mobile have good coverage there?

T-Mobile coverage in Ithaca is practically nonexistent. You barely get Edge and no 3G. I switched from AT&T to T-Mobile; biggest mistake ever. If I’m not getting Edge service, my phone is constant searching for service or getting none at all. Look on the Cornell Store website (technology link) for AT&T student discount info.

Wifi is great. Free.

at&t and verizon are both double what tmobile would be. do you have strong wifi connection everywhere tmobile is weak? cuz if so i was thinking id just install a texting/calling app on my phone. do you think that would work?

you do not have wifi when you are not inside a building on campus, and obviously you would not have it in many places off campus where you’d reasonably want to use a phone (collegetown, bus, stores, etc.)
if you are OK going back to 1995 and not having use of a phone when you’re out and about, then I guess you’d be fine. the on-campus wifi is definitely good enough when you are in a building.

The AT&T coverage is excellent here for both voice and data.
I am on North Campus (CKB) right now and have full bars and 4G LTE service lit up on my ipad.
4G LTE was just rolled out in Ithaca and CU campus in January.

Verizon cellular service is also very good. Red Rover wifi is great when inside buildings as another poster pointed out.

Wifi is excellent throughout most of campus, even well outside buildings in some places.

Sprint cell phone coverage is absolutely terrible, especially off campus towards downtown Ithaca. I have Verizon 4G LTE, no complaints.
