Will a 4.0 help for CSULB or SFSU?

The CSUs (except SLO) only look at your GPA from academic classes during grades 10 and 11. I think they also allow you to replace the grade of a re-taken course so, you could be in much better shape (GPA wise) than you think.

Use the formula and GPA calculator provided by @Gumbymom to calculate your index.

With a 2.9 CSU GPA and 1000 SAT, your index would be 3320.

The thresholds change a little each year but for CSULB, a 3800 will probbaly do the trick, SFSU, around 3300, SJSU varies widely by major.Last year’s results can be found here: http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-10079.11705.html

A few others that are probably in your range are SacState, Sonoma and maybe Northridge. Your local CSU and all the non-impacted campuses would also take you. (Channel Islands, Monterrey, etc)

As long as you complete the A-G requirements, CSUs also don’t care too much about Sr year course rigor. I’d suggest you drop one or two of the APs next year (maybe Bio and Psych) and enjoy yourself a bit.

Be sure you compete the A-G course requirements of you will be disqualified regardless of GPA, etc.

Good luck.
