i got a 740 in the writing section but i scored a terrible 610 in the verbal section, should my writing score help to outweigh my verbal score, any and all input negative and posistive would be appreciated

Hey...I got 610 on CR too! I think that colleges weigh the verbal section more than the writing, but it won't look too bad with that high writing score. It really depends on where you plan on applying/going to college.

Hmm, I have the reverse, 800 Verbal, 650 Writing. But I don't think it matters, both shows that you have a reasonable grasp of English, and that's all the colleges need SAT's for.

Verbal is typically given more weight than Writing. They might be confused about the score differential if nothing else.

I guess colleges don't really know what to do with the writing section. Still, I think M and V trump W. This may be most true at larger universities... and maybe not at smaller LACs/ivies, but then again I am just conjecturing.

Verbal is generally seen as more important than writing, and one section won't "make up" for another section. That's why there are three sections. They're all important.

verbal is supposed to rate your reading skills. the writing part is rating your thought expression/grammar
