Will a bad mid-year report hurt me too much?

So I slipped up the 1st semester of my senior year and will probably end with a B+ in AP gov and a C+ in ap lit. I am applying to very selective schools being columbia, carnegie mellon and upenn. I have never received a C in high school ever before. english is really just one of my largest weaknesses (that can actually be seen throughout my transcript too ugh) and I guess this year really took its toll on me :frowning: How much will a C+ in ap lit affect my chances?

It will definitely hurt at those top schools. Unless you have a documented medical reason for your slump.

can a devastating natural disaster count as a reason ^ @TomSrOfBoston

I would say yes, you should e-mail your admissions counselor to let them know of any extenuating circumstances, I’m sure they will understand, a C+ in an AP class is still respectable.

@Magician183 idk tho its gonna sound like I’m making excuses  i rlly wanna go to columbia and its so scary cuz this one C might change everything
