Will a withdrawal from a non-prerequisite course for my major deny admission to UCLA?

I notified UCLA this evening that I dropped one of my science courses a few weeks ago(it is NOT a prerequisite for my major: Anthropology). I completed my IGETC last fall and already completed my major prerequisites. In addition, I notified them that I decided to take Physics over the summer instead of Calculus & Sociology (Once again, these courses are NOT prerequisites for my major). Will this withdrawal & summer schedule change negatively affect me? I am really worried about having my application denied :(

Please let me know

Any feedback?

look at older posts…i remember reading the same situation someone had with you…i think his id was landmark or sth

Unlike the other individual, I completed all my units, my IGETC, and my major prerequisites. The withdrawal has not/will not impact any of the above.

I’m still very concerned & worried :(

It shouldn’t be an issue mainly because you don’t “need” the courses to complete igetc, nor are they major pre-reqs.
I’m not sure why you’re taking additional courses, but assuming you are for a minor, or double major, it’ll benefit you to take them before you enroll at UCLA.

i am in the same boat. i got admitted under business econ and i completed igetc, all my units, and all the prereqs. I dropped a sociology class this past semester and got a W… Im hoping this has no affect because i really did not need the course. please keep my posted on what happens! i also notified them about the change.

also, i notified ucsb and uci and they said it was not a problem and had no affect. just wondering if la would be more strict since it is more competitive

I really hope that UCLA isn’t very strict & harsh on me, even though I don’t really “need” that course for my major & it isn’t detrimental to my overall academic standing. I was only taking it because I will eventually have to take it as a dental school requirement in the future. I honestly can’t sleep properly until I hear back from UCLA :(

Do some research. Several people have asked this question over the years, and I think the general consensus is if it’s not a major prereq/IGETC course or needed for the 60 unit minimum, you’re fine.

what conditions would normally cause them to rescind students?

Hey…this is from UCSB because I just got off the phone with them wanting to drop Finite Mathematics because I don’t need it for UCSB. They said I couldn’t drop it because it’s what gives me 60 units to transfer. But normally, because it is not a pre-req for my Major nor IGETC it would’ve been OK to drop.

I’m in the same boat. I emailed UCLA today, so I’ll give you a definite response when they respond.

I checked my admissions status and now It doesn’t show the congratulations page anymore… Instead it says that they are reviewing my changes and will notify me of their decision… Is this the same for you guys?? I’m very worried now

@lildrkdragon91 - same thing happened to me.

I just wasted my time writing a new post about this but yeah i’m in the same situation as you guys. I just had to make changes to my planned coursework through the “Provisional Problem Form” on the UCLA website. I ended up dropping two classes (on time) and adding two PACE classes that just basically started. Worst case scenario, I went down in two units but I’m already over 60 units and the classes had nothing to do with my major’s prerequisites…

As if the anticipation for admission wasn’t enough… lol does someone here know what we could expect or what reasons they would actually rescind a student? and what exactly are the guidelines for GPA this last semester?? Transferitis…
