Yeah I just met with my counselor last week. He was of great help but he didn’t thoroughly go into detail about how Academic renewal works. He said I would be getting my AA in Economics if I pass these courses this fall though, so im excited about that. I feel like I would need to make another appointment or ask someone around the enrollment office about this. It would be awesome if i could put that history class for the renewal because i feel like that would increase my gpa and put me over the 3.2 mark.

I might go to the school office tomorrow and I will let you know what happens.

Yeah, that would definitely help. Just so you know, for the UCs, you have the fall term still to raise your GPA (not for TAG, but for regular admissions.

Also, UC Riverside, UC Merced, and UC Santa Cruz only require a 3.0 for TAG, so you would be eligible for those.

Ok sounds good, let me know. Good luck.

So I can apply for UC’s at 3.0 and still use the fall term to raise my gpa? Would they make the decision prior to the end of the fall term or after? But as of now it’s good to know that I am eligible for TAG for the Uc’s that you mentioned. I really want to get into business/finance, so I guess I’m aiming at UC’s with good business programs

Yes, they consider fall grades as well, so you have another term to try to get your GPA up. They don’t make decisions until March and April. It really sucks waiting to find out.

Yeah, I don’t really know which of those schools have the best business programs. I’m sure they’re all pretty good, because the UCs in general are excellent schools. It really comes down to whether you would rather wait an extra year to get into UCSB or Davis, or go to Santa Cruz or something now. I really don’t know much about the Cal State school system.

Also, are you going to want to end up getting an MBA? Because in that case, which school you go to for undergraduate doesn’t matter as much, I don’t think.

@music1990 What instruments do you play? That’s an awesome major.

@calbro

I play piano and guitar. I used to play violin but I just couldn’t keep it up. I think I’m going to be double majoring in English as well, as long as it’s possible. I’m kind of researching that right now. What’s your major?

@music1990 Psych. Have my entire time at Cal planned including my double major, haha.

@calbro

Oh sweet yeah that’s what I’m trying to do right now! Wait, so what else are you majoring in? Are you able to complete them both in two years?

PM’d

@music1990 The school offices were closed today, but I will be turning in the academic renewal on monday. However, I don’t think I can transfer at all! I have 37.5 units but I think that 7.5 units are not trasnferrable i was doing the uc transmission planner online and I put most of the classes even the D that I got in Music during the spring and only get 26 units and a 2.79 gpa… but UC’s dont accept D’s so that means im at 23 units…? gah! this sucks…

You can still transfer if you have 23 units, you would just need to take 37 over the next year. But it might be difficult if as of now you only have a 2.79. I think you should probably focus on taking the next year to get your GPA up an then apply next year.

I would have 23, but UC requires a language other than english and in high school I took Spanish for years in IB, I believe I can get my transcripts from HS to prove that I took it and hopefully that gives me an additional 3 units. Also, for FALL of 2015 Admission, can i take 15 units this fall, 15 next spring giving me a total of 56 units and take around 4-10 units in the summer prior to fall entrance if I get into a school? or do I need have all 60 by end of spring?

No slacking off (shoot for As, inevitably there are those few Bs which happens, but stay away from Cs to boost GPA)

Use Academic Renewal for your utmost benefit

You can do this

If you put your mind to it you can actually do it. I know you read my story and hopefully it motivates you a bit. If you have any questions feel free to message me

Go bruins!!
