will any school care about middle school grades?

on our transcripts my school submits any high school classes taken in middle school. i didnt do well in these classes and it pulls my gpa down a lot. will colleges care?

Because they were for high school credit, it will matter. You can include an explaination in your personal statement concerning any mitigating circumstances for your grades being low in those courses, especially if your grades improved in high school. If you feel that the reason was that you were not accademically-mature enough for those classes, but improved your study habits in your 9-12 grades, then say so and include examples of the changes that you have made that have enabled you to succeed since then.

Different schools and different public school systems handle this issue differently. Wcgh, do you know that your school reports both the classes you took in middle school and the grades? My kids’ school reports credits, but no grades.

Will colleges care about those grades? Likely not. Particularly if you do better in the classes you take while you’re in high school.

ive seen what my transcript will look like and it does include grades. unfortunately it brings down my GPA over .1 so it is an issue. i will definitely include in my PS how i learned maturity and responsibility for my own grades

Colleges already don’t place much emphasis on your freshman year. It’s by far the least important. Classes taken before your freshman year, while they may be considered to some extent, will be at most minimally important.

Your GPA is meaningless except in the context of your high school and your transcript. The decrease in your GPA as a result of the middle school classes is much less important than an equivalent GPA decrease as a result of junior-year classes.

The more I look on CC, the more I think that GPA, APs SAT’s are really meaningless in the end. I’ve been had…

If I’d only realized this MUCH MUCH earlier. I can’t say I spent a lot of time worrying about the 3 things I listed, but I might have done more to pursue my interests. All those people talking about passion really are correct.
