I'd apply to say, UCSD or UCSB as safties. I wasn't worrying about the number of UCs I get accepted into hurting my chances. Then someone told me, don't worry, applying to a bunch will only hurt your chances at Cal and UCLA. Well Cal is the school I want more than any of them! I'd settle for UCLA as a second. Those are my top two. Can people who've been through the applications process help me out on this?

it doesnt matter...i have friends who applied to 8 and got into cal and la. i applied to 4 (Berk la sd and irvine)

Your chances of admission to individual UCs are not affected by a mass application. I applied to only 2 (SD and Cal) and got into both.

the UCs claim the more you apply to, the more likely you'll get in...

which is like, 'ok no ****'

but at least that means it doesn't hurt you at all

thanks! Someone on the UCSB board was full of **** :)

Applying to many UCs has no bearing on your acceptance into any particular one.

However, I'm almost 100% sure that each UC school can see which other UC's you've applied to and which one's you've already gotten into if they want

I don't know whether they'd weigh it into the admission system though.. 5 UC's ok.. if you applied to every UC, it'll just seem like you're aiming for everything.

i applied to 7 and got into all of them, including ucla and berkeley (GO BEARS!!!)
