Will bad SAT II scores hurt me?

Okay, so I'm applying to Vanderbilt and Brown (my top two dream schools :D) and if my SAT is within the range of the schools but my SAT II scores are really bad (550-600?).. will they look down on that or will they just ignore it? If my ACT turns out to be really good I know I just won't even send the SAT in..

Should I just not record them on the application even though they'll see them anyway or what?

You might be able to slide by with something in the 600s but 500s is a big of a dangerous area--even with good SAT/ACT scores, if it comes down to you and someone else with similar credentials and better SAT II scores, it may work against you.

I think these universities should understand that people who might have a good ACT score might have the worst SAT score but never showed it. Too bad you can't take advantage of the new rule from Collegeboard in March 2009 when you can choose which scores to send. I'm sure people don't take the tests because they're scared of it showing, and I don't think that Vandy should look down upon those scores, but they won't look you as someone who will do horrible in their school.

I think as far as the SAT's II's are concerned it is not so good. But ACT's and whatever else you have that may be unique may counter them.

Those are terrible SAT IIs in the Ivy application pool.
If you show strong testing otherwise, and come from an economically deprived school (or even better, family), or are a URM, they may fly.
Socially and culturally, Vandy and Brown are very different places. I'm guessing that there are schools out there that would work well for you.

Why would they ignore any data point?
