-------------GUYS, PLEASE SEND HELP-------------
I just got admitted to UCB and honestly, my data is a just a bit above their 25 percentiles…
As I’m taking AP Macroeconomics this year, I input my 12th-grade course of AP Macroeconomics as a whole year course. However, I just found out that our school changed our class title to regular American Government for the 2nd semester in order to fulfill the graduation requirements for our seniors…
So now on the transcript, it looks like I “dropped” an AP class.
Will they revoke my admission for this? And how should I explain this situation? Should I blame it on my school? Or should I just “admit” that I dropped an AP class…
THANK YOU SO MUCH
No big deal. Just send a note to Admissions explaining the situation. You can also send an email to your Admissions counselor with the same information. Do note that both are really busy this time of year and may not get back to you right away. You might need to call them to follow up.
Thanks a lot!!! Also, I put in some AP tests that I was planning on taking this year but now I don’t want to take some of them anymore since I found some of those credits are not so useful for what I’m planning on doing at Berkeley… Would that be okay with the admissions? Much appreciate!
same thing, in that same email you can explain that as well. For that one, you will probably get nags on your portal reminders to turn in your AP scores over the next few months. The nags will eventually go away, probably in August.
Thanks a lot! I just paid my deposit and I will give them a call next Monday! However, do you have any idea where I can get my CalNet ID? Since it’s on my new student’s task and I need to get it done by tomorrow… Thank you!!
With all respect, I highly doubt the District just up and changed the course. The curriculum plan was probably always a Gov course second semester, as HS grad requirements didn’t just change last month… (The AP Econ’s are typically a one-semester course each.)
Also, do I have to go to the first-year pathway program?
Pathways is something you choose if you want smaller classes to start off your first year. I don’t know many or any who chose that route though I’m sure there are some.
Thanks a lot!!!
Also, I’m having trouble creating my CalNet ID ( The web page says I’m not allowed to view)…I have paid my deposit and accepted my offer. Do you have any idea why this happens? Also, on my task, it says “CalNet ID is due March 30”, which is tomorrow… I’m so confused since I just accepted my admission today…
Please help me out, thank you again! Much appreciation.
Thank you and yes, I think that was my mistake… However, if college already aware that AP Econ is typically one semester, then I guess they wouldn’t be too surprised when I tell them about the change? @bluebayou
Hey man did you end up creating your CalID on time? I created mine a day after the deadline but I don’t think its a problem.
Hi! I actually have a related question (if @ProfessorPlum168 could weigh in, that would be awesome). I was planning to take 4 AP exams this year which I am not taking AP classes for. However, I didn’t have space in my local schools to take them and since I’m homeschooled, that was really my only option, so I couldn’t register. I’ve already accepted my offer and declined other schools – will Berkeley revoke my admission because of this? I am going to be submitting an update to them. Thanks!
They really don’t care if you were planning on taking an AP test and don’t end up doing it. There are multiple posts like this online confirming it.
@musiclover5 chances are they probably won’t care; however, you will need to send into admissions and subsequently your assigned admissions officer any discrepancies from what you reported on your application. Chances are, the nags on your portal asking you to submit your AP scores will remain throughout the summer which will be the “worst” thing.
