I applied to a state uni. through its website and sent all the materials to the college. But actually I find something wrong with my transcripts :my high school took some grades wrongly so that I had a new version. Problem is it will be difficult to explain the situation to the state university so that I decided not to do anything , and that university is not my dream school either. But I will apply to most of the universities through commonapp, and this time use the right transcript . I am wondering whether other colleges will see my transcript submitted to the state uni. and find the discrepancies. Is there a system in which every college can check the material submitted to even if I finally do not enroll in the state uni.? I am an international applicant , so not quite familiar with the system in America. Thanks for your time .

A simple call to your state university would do it.
But to my knowledge, I don’t think they have such system

The college cannot legally provide your transcript to other colleges unless you request that it do so.

Thanks for your reply but what should I do ?
To directly call the state university and send another transcript or to just withdraw my application? Will the AO be confused to see two of my transcripts? Or will my counselor`s email explaining why be helpful?

If counselor sends a new transcript and explains that it corrects errors in the first one and replaces that one, you will be fine and college will rely on new one.

Thanks,my reality is that my high school is not recognized in the USA at all and it is difficult for my counselor to write in English to explain the situation. Therefore, given that university is solely my safety school , could I withdraw my application without further explanation about my transcripts? Will this move undermine my admission into other colleges? Or should I explain my situation to the state university ,telling the AO that something went wrong with my transcripts and I cannot send a new one within the deadline, therefore I withdraw my application.
My question is kind of stupid , but it takes soooooo great amount of money to study in the America so I must be extremely careful in case anything bad happen. Thanks again.

You can always withdraw an application to a college by just writing to it doing so, and that has no impact on any applications to other colleges.

If keeping the application, it will be better that counselor send new transcript with explanation but, if not possible, you can send the explanation or possibly have the counselor provide the explanation in your native language and you send the translation. The new transcript can arrive after the application deadline including because it will be a correction to something already in your file and corrections are generally allowed after the app deadline.

Why don’t you call or email admissions at the state university and explain it to them. Tell them you are having your counselor send an updated version, but the counselor does not speak English, so could they please keep an eye out for it when it comes. Then follow up with another email or call when you think it probably has been received, just to make sure they got it and understood what to do with it.

I don’t understand at all why you would want to withdraw the application. You still need a safety school, right?

Problem is that if I just leave the application there without correction and not enroll in the state university, but attend some other college , will the college I would attend in the future find that I have a transcript different from the one I provide?Do I need to even explain to other colleges that I had submitted a wrong transcript to a university and the one they will be reviewing is the correct one.
Thanks.

To:intparent
Because I have little time writing to the university explaining my situation and sending another transcript requires another 50 dollars, and I have another safe schools. My concern now primary lies in what to do with the other colleges I will apply to. Just send them the updated version or explain I have a wrong version before? I am afraid that someday the wrong transcript would be spotted(Is that possible? will the wrong version be something against me someday )and the college I would attend find me not honest.

Different colleges will not compare the information you sent to them. Just send the updated version to the colleges you have not applied to yet, DO NOT explain that you sent the wrong version before to a different school. For the college with the wrong version of the transcript, you can either send an updated transcript or withdraw your application. Either way is fine. Please don’t worry about the other version of your transcript, it will be OK.

Thanks for your conclusive reply and I feel some relief now.
:)

If I am understanding you correctly, you have not sent the incorrect transcript to any college other the one state college. If that is correct, then you should just send your updated transcript to the others. Unless you decide to tell them, those colleges will never know of the existence of that incorrect transcript.

Yes , you understand me correctly and I have known the solution already.
Thanks for your reply.
