Hey guys, I'm not a permanent resident or US citizen, but I have studied in the US since grade 3. Will any colleges still ask me to take the TOEFL exam? Namely WashU, as their website does not explain very well...

Many thanks!

Probably not, but you should contact them directly. They will be happy to answer that question.

I don’t think you need to take it. What was your ACT English or SAT CR score? If they’re high enough, you definitely do not need to take the TOEFL.

I’m in a similar situation…
I’m a European citizen (E.U.)
I’ve studied in an American school from 2nd grade…and before that I attended school in Australia…

Many schools require the TOEFL exam even if you have an American education or are from other english-speaking countries like Australia, England, etc.

But other schools like the University of Chicago, don’t require the TOEFL exam if you get a high CR score on the SAT.

So, basically…you need to take the TOEFL because all schools have different requirements and if you don’t take it, you will have to give up applying to many top schools.
(But don’t stress because most native English speakers do fine on the TOEFL exam.)

ACT English 35, SAT CR 720. Actually, all of the schools I’ve looked at so far don’t require the TOEFL, the only school that’s iffy because of ambiguous language is WashU. I was just wondering if people knew of specific schools that don’t care about you at all and want you to take the TOEFL no matter what. Any one know a school like that? Thanks.
