I have excellent grades, SAT's, writing and hopefully recommendations, but I have no meaningful EC's. If you want to know for reference:
2 Years Newspaper
3 Years Yearbook
1 Year Squash (I'm putting Squash on my application because I am genuinely interested in it, but this is the first time my school has had a team so it may be meaningless to add to my application)
1 Summer of Work

So I have nothing I'm passionate about; should I still apply ED given my writing skills and numbers? Or will I have 0% chance and thus should not bother. Honestly I suppose this is more of a sign that I am not Duke material, but I'm really flustered right now so I want people to talk to about it

Edit: When I say nothing I'm passionate about, I don't mean I am unambitious. I used to be, yes, but now I am much more so. I am really interested in Squash and I run outside of school now, yet these things I found so recently that I cannot put them on an application and get taken seriously

It looks like you have good stats (I saw the other thread, 3.9, 2200, nice job). The one concerning thing is extra curriculars IMO, as a lot of Duke applicants have solid stats and SAT/ACTs. Its not a lost cause or anything, and Duke is tough for everyone, but I’m guessing lack of ECs will hurt you as they look for talent and things you do outside of school, which doesn’t look like too much. I’m not an adcom though, they might fall in love with you, just keep your options open

Don’t post on this anymore.

Square - Thank you for the post.

I know my EC’s are barebones at best, so hopefully I can write some good essays, and maybe slip into the class of 2016. I’m just completely clueless as to what to write about for my short answer on EC’s because as I said, I’m not particularly passionate about any single one, bar squash but I’ve only played for a month. I could easily write an essay on how squash WILL affect me, but that isn’t the same is how it HAS. Maybe if I’m lucky and get deferred I can send them something more if I do well during the season :P
