Spanish really doesn't seem to want to fit itself into my schedule. I know CSUs let you take all their required US History and related classes after transfer, but those technically aren't part of IGETC while a foreign language is (correct?). I know I can apply for a partial transfer if I have only one class that I haven't taken, but will I still be eligible for tag (even though I technically won't have completed the IGETC)?

Last time I checked, UCSC is the only campus that requires IGETC to get a TAG

^ Shouldn’t it be SD?

Well, that’s where I’m TAGing to 8). Although if I get into Berkeley or LA, I guess it won’t really matter, will it?

Yes, UCSD. My bad XD

UCD doesn’t even require foreign language unless you’re doing a BA. Although I may be wrong (perhaps it’s all L&S? I don’t think it is)

Wrong. Berkeley and LA L&S do require IGETC, which means you need to complete the FL requirement. Or follow the 7-course breadth, which also includes FL anyway. Unless your major is engineering or pre-med, you’ll probably need a semester of foreign language :)

I don’t think UCB and UCLA specifically tell you to take IGETC. Last I checked, UCs don’t encourage IGETC at all (except for UCSD >>)

^ What?
You need either IGETC or 7-course breadth to get into LA’s L&S and Cal’s L&S. Obviously, IGETC would be much easier since at some schools, there are no courses that satisfy some areas of the breadth
Only engineering majors should avoid IGETC

Yea, I guess it’s because I’m in engineering that I kept hearing don’t do igetc lol. I can’t think of any other reason.

what if i passed 2 years of spanish in high school?
would i have to take foreign language again at community college or am I cleared of that area of igetc?

^ You are cleared, just don’t forget top submit your hs transcript to your CC (so they can evaluate and certify your completion of IGETC) and the UC you are going to transfer to so they can verify it.
