The thing is, I had 35 advanced placement AP credit hours coming straight into Michigan

25+ is considered sophomore

Anyways, after my first semester of Michigan, I missed Junior (65 credits) by like 3 credits. So after this semester, I'm a junior/near senior standing.

But this is my 1st year in college!

So, do they look at me as freshman or sophomore?

Since AP scores do not usually have an effect in freshman decision, I doubt they will have an effect in transfer admissions, so you would be viewed as a freshman, or more accurately a 'first-year.' Although this will probably put you above other freshman, so it could be a good thing.

BTW I am in the same boat as you, came into college with 60.5 credits and will be 0.5 short of being a senior at the end of the year. But I will still only be able to graduate here after 3 years at the most in my desired major or next year in math. (though I would actually aim for 4 though with a triple.,), so I am not expected to be viewed as anything other than a first-year.

On a side note, I think its the quality grades that count, not the number of them you have accumulated.

chanman, this is kinda off topic but are you hoping to transfer out of Michigan because of something that has to do with Michigan, or do you just have your heart set on Wharton? Because I am leaning towards going to UMich...

This one wins...maybe. Skipping what many people consider the best 4 years of their life is something I would never do, just as I never skipped grades even though offered. That is one of the reasons I am applying as a transfer, because I just am in no hurry and my current college is making me feel like I am (30 uni qtr), plus getting a 4.0 is actually annoying because it makes you feel bored.
