Will i get in to fsu or usf?

i live in florida. i have a 3.3 gpa. 1250 sat( math and reading). 2 sports. many clubs. ?

FSU has a 90% admission rate with an average SAT score in the 1100’s. To paraphrase SNL, it’s slightly more selective than the Burger King Kid’s Club. As long as you remember to stamp the envelope, won’t have any problems getting in there.

According to CollegeData, the average stats of kids that got in this year at USF was a 1210 with a 3.32 UW GPA, so you appear to be on target for USF as well.

Uh, no offense, but you don’t know what you’re talking about with FSU. The acceptance rate at FSU was 36% last year… 36%! Where in the world did you pull that 90% crap from? Their average SAT is somewhere in the 1200’s, I think.

Take it from a fellow Florida resident who has dealt with the Florida university system this year.

At FSU, you don’t have a great chance with that GPA. Your SAT is good enough, but a 3.3 probably won’t cut it unless you have some great EC’s, essays, or some other connection.

At USF, however, you should be golden… they’re not that selective yet.

I must have pulled the wrong school at collegedata.

The actual admission rate last year was 62% for FSU. The average SAT score was 1160. The 25% to 75% range for SAT scores was 1090 to 1230. The average UW GPA was a 3.4

Regardless, it’s still a relatively easy school for admission, and the OP should easily be admitted.

Hmm… those stats are quite outdated. Actually, it wouldn’t surprise me if that data set is only a couple years old. I don’t know if you’re familiar with Florida universities or not, but the reason FSU (and especially UF) are so hard to get into is because of several factors. One, the state legislature has decreased funding for the state flagships, which has led to small incoming freshman class sizes. Two, increased popularity because of it’s extremely low cost in this economic suck-fest, the number of applicants has greatly increased. So when you add lots of applicants to a much smaller incoming class, you get a much smaller acceptance rate. The days of FSU being easy to get into are over… now just because FSU has a low acceptance rate doesn’t mean that their quality has improved all that much, but the quality of the incoming class is much higher than it ever has been.

With that said, I was probably too pessemistic in my original assesment of the OP’s chances. It really depends if the OP has a higher weighted GPA or not… but either way, applying early is the key for him/her.

G.P. Burdell, you’re a complete clown. Posting made up stats on this site does not make you cool. FSU is not an easy school to get into by any means. Last year’s avg. SAT was 1265. Many kids get rejected with very good stats.

Look up the the correct numbers before you keep making a fool out of yourself. They’re not hard to find.

btw, that SNL quote was used for Arizona State.

Either you were thinking of Fresno State University, or Arizona State (ASU).

Here are the Florida SUS (State Univeristy System) stats for those admitted 2008. These are official stats. See the difference also between summer and fall stats. Rumor has it that stats went up again for 2009. Those stats will be published around Aug or Sept. The CollegeBoard stats are way old. http://www.guidancegcs.net/Location.htm</a></p>

You also need to understand and calculate your core GPA as this is the only GPA that FSU/USF/UCF uses. http://cyberguidance.net/college/recalgpa.pdf</a>. FSU puts great weight on honors/AP/IB/DE classes. They really look at the weight of your schedule.

For Florida State - the 1250 is close, the 3.3 is not.

FSU is a joke. Let’s get real here.

You’ll make USF but not FSU.

Sure. Let’s get real: [FSU Highlights](Strong Students and Outcomes | Florida State University)

ACT 28. I’m so impressed. :|

Graduates go on to work at Target. I’m so impressed.

That highlights page really doesn’t say much. Cool, they’ve had kids get jobs and go to grad school. Not impressed.

agreement @ keasbey nights.
FSU is a ****ty school.

Just because FSU isn’t a top school doesn’t make it a ****ty school by any stretch of the imagination. I just don’t think that the highlights page is much to be impressed about. Yes, it’s impressive that a kid can go to Yale for graduate school, but think about how many people have graduated from FSU. It’s simple probability that one would go to Yale.

It’s pretty terrible. As is UCF. and USF. And most Florida state schools. I’m not at all impressed with anyone attending any of these schools.

For a state school FSU is reasonably well accomplished. The FTIC averages surpass many other universities. Top 20? Perhaps not in all fields, but in some it is.

Go 'Noles!

mega-society is a joke. I’m not impressed by his/hers awful posts.
