will i get into at least one...

flong if you are arcadian it will be useful if you view the data set/plot chart by the arcadian parents booster club lol =D gl!

and just want to comment on something there is a chart somewhere showing the percentages of people who got in w/ ranges of unweighted gpa...below 3.7 unweighted were in the low single digits for cal but i do believe la was in the 10's...i think i saw this on their website, so go there and search it up...statistics will give you a better idea since all of us here on cc are definetly bias...i favor cal alot more due to friends attending there and life time enemies attending la =/ lol...and i think uclari is bias also lol

uhm ucla is like 14 percent and cal is like 11

o well, if you get in, you get in. no point of asking chances now after you already turned in your app.

flong pm me =D i want to know who you are microsoft internship =D O.o lucky...

yeah madame u have a point. its just after turning in ur app and waiting for a response is just the worst feeling. theres nothing u can do about it anymore, no control of anything. I guess the real point of these forums isnt so much percentages for schools but just more so a comfort thing. Knowing that hey other ppl think i can get into these schools. although, that wasnt the case for me LOL

but seriously , why is it so hard to get into Tufts ? everyones saying its a long shot for me, i thought tufts was okay in ucla range, !

darkhope,

I assume you mean that I'm "biased." In that case, yes, I do have biases, but I myself am not a personification of the notion of "bias" itself.

However, I can say this much: Statistically, there is not a large enough difference in the applicant pool to UCLA or Cal that we can actually say that someone in flong's position is more or less likely to get into one or the other. Also, statements like
cal is harder to get into than la, there are other factors considered besides sat/gpa averages. and cal is alot better than la in terms of both academics and social life.
are pretty hard to actually verify. It's true that Cal's graduate programs are far superior to most of UCLA's, but their undergrad programs have fairly similar quality ascribed to them by most rankings. Furthermore, "social life" is one of those incredibly subjective notions that anyone can state but never really prove. What makes one place's social life better than another's? It all depends on what a student is looking for, really.

The numbers, however, do not lie. Statistically, the admit pool is almost identical.

Tufts want to be a psuedo-Ivy. It's getting harder every year.

damn..so how bad are my chances

To be fair to Tufts, it's getting harder everywhere every year. Simple supply and demand. Supply has remained largely constant, with most of the top universities not increasing class sizes, while demand has increased every year. This means increasing shortages of seats, and colleges get to choose the same number of admits from larger applicant pools.

Tufts definitely has shown some aspirations for growth, but many top universities are enjoying the spillover from top schools.

flong

Tufts: Slight reach/reach without knowing your class standing.

wait i didnt know tufts was that hard. im sure it's equivalent to ucla or berkeley

It's somewhere around there, but the mean SAT score is a tad bit higher (a full SD, actually).

wow freakin tufts is this hard now! dammit i thought on my list it woulda been one of the easier ones to get into

im sure the choice of major may be a factor; for example: if you were to choose undecided as a major, it would be easier to get in than if you were to choose a hot major- biomedical engineering.

i chose economics : D. well, i liked the tufts essays i wrote my best essays for that school and sent them an original copy of my microsoft rec. hopefully that'll help.

madamebovary,

To the best of my knowledge, Tufts does not care about major choice as a factor of admission. UCLA does not either.

uclari i'm sorry that i accidently called you bias =( plz excuse my 630 writing score O.o anyhow i'm having a headache right now O.o =( argg...anyhow yea...gl to flong then!...envy you so much...your rec from swift must have been good...

LOL thanks m.c. WELLLLL. didnt realize tufts would be that hard to get into. fun times eh ; )
