I have finals tomorrow and I’m worried about my Chem final. I have a C in the class and if i bomb this test (Like the last final) it will drop to a D. I really don’t want to make this class up because it was hard and I was looking forward to taking AP Biology next year. I’ve been stressed all week because of this test and worrying I won’t be able to transfer out of community college into a better school.
I’m already making up for a D I had in geometry by taking FST, so I know making up the class is an option.
go talk with your GC about your overall pattern of classes attempted, your grades, and what UC/CSU campuses you’d be a good candidate for.
Honestly, though, you’re worrying about the wrong thing. The important thing isn’t predicting what UC/CSU will accept you, its figuring out why you’re getting D’s!! Once class might be bad luck, but with 2 its a pattern. You’re doing something wrong. I suggest reading the book “Make it Stick” this summer, a recent book focused on what is known about how to study effectively.
Perhaps the AP/Honors courses are too challenging.
Yes, it is important to figure out how to do better than D grades.
See http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/files/csu-uc-a-g-comparison-matrix.pdf to figure out if you will be able to satisfy the “d” requirement out of the UC/CSU a-g requirements if you get a D grade that disqualifies that semester of chemistry from counting.
