Will I have a shot at transferring to top universities???

I will be attending Ohio State University this fall as a freshman. My highschool stats weren't terrible, but certainly didn't warrant any applications to very top schools. My cumulative hs gpa was 3.44 and my act was a 28. I have my heart set on transferring to a more prestigious university after my freshman year, would I have a shot at any of the following, or should I revise my list??

Northwestern
UChicago
NYU
Georgetown
George Washington
University of Washington
USC
Vanderbilt

There’s no way to meaningfully speculate without your freshman grades. Your HS GPA will be a serious liability if you intend to transfer your first year.

Well you High School GPA will hender your chances. You should also retake the ACT, because schools like UChicago, Northwestern, and Vanderbilt want higher test scores. I think you have a good shot of getting into UW though.

Haha. His ACT score is perfectly fine. If he was applying to an Ivy, I would probably then tell him that his scores could be a little higher. Vanderbilt’s transfer rate is ABOVE 50 percent. OP, you have a decent shot at those schools if you MURDER the essays and have great EC’s. U of Chicago will probably be the most difficult to get into. NYU will be easier if you can pay their massive tuition without needing much financial aid. Good luck!

If you stay at OSU and get top notch grades there, there’s no reason you couldn’t get into at least one of the schools you listed.
