The first time i took the sats i got a 1590....i just found out today that i got a 1700, will i be able to improve to at least a 1900 if i take it one to two more times...do i got the potential????

It's impossible to tell if you have the potential, but it isn't about the amount of times you take the test, it's about how you prepare in between.

well do you think its possible for me to reach 1900 for a person that started out with a 1590?

Yes. IMO every reasonably intelligent person is at least capable, you just have to prep a lot/adequately.

whats IMO?

In my opinion.

I am taking the SAT in May. My expected/predicted score for this test will be 700m, 410v, 540w.

How much will I have to prep between May and October to reach a score of 730m, 520v, 570w?

How should I prep for reading? My comprehension is pretty bad at the moment. I tried reading articles from 'New Yorker', and it was difficult for me to understand. So I quit and picked up a magazine called 'Natural History'. The articles in this magazine was really interesting and not too hard to understand. Is it worth it to read 'Natural History'? I also find the TIMES/USNEWS/ECONOMIST difficult also. Their articles are really boring!

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

im wondering about that too ^^^^^^^^^

To get a score of 410 on CR, you need to approximately answer 15 correctly and leave the rest blank.

If you are trying to just get a 520, that means you have to approximately answer 33 questions correctly.. which is basically half the test.

Since you seem to be having a lot of trouble on CR, I would suggest focusing extremely hard on at least the first half of the test. Do the sentence completions first and double check those since that's where you can earn the easiest # of points. Also, go through the section and find the passage you feel is easier and work on that first. Then move on to the harder passage.

For the writing, what do you normally get on essays?

Thanks. That is really helpful information. On essays I normally get a 7-8. By the way, I have to double number of correct answers to get a 520? That is insane!

c'mon, i started with some 1700s(on a practice test of course) when i started learning english for about a year.
now a year later, i get 800 on CR right now...and writing..sigh, ,still need a little more concentration during the test to raise it to >750

absolutely, you can improve. My first was an 1870, then I got a 2040, then I got a 2080... combined is 2110. Taking it again helps a ton!! My improved scores allowed me to apply to better schools, and Im thrilled as to where I ended up (William and Mary).. take it again because it can't hurt you
