Will my chances change...

because of the major I choose on common app for Engineering? I'm a computer programming nerd so many programs will fit me. But I don't want to have a lower chance because Operation Research is more difficult to get in than computer science. What about CAS? Does the major you put on your common app matter?

Bump…

I don’t think it matters. You don’t even have to choose a major to apply lol

Is it true that certain majors are more difficult to get into?

I thought it was just engineering as a whole…

I don’t think so. My biggest hook is working as a freelance developer and I got into Engineering with somewhat average stats. You should be fine.

So why then AEM is so difficult to get into while other agricultural programs are much easier?

Engineering and College of Arts and Sciences are the ONLY colleges in which you can apply “Undecided”.

You are accepted into the colleges, NOT into the majors.
All of the other colleges you specify a major upon applying and you are accepted ONLY INTO THAT MAJOR.
Which means that in other colleges, some programs/majors are MORE COMPETITIVE and have HIGHER OVERALL STATISTICS than the college as a whole.
