Looking at my GPA now, it'll appear as if I'll be applying with something around a 90 unweighted GPA and 91-92 weighted GPA. My freshman year GPA was something like an 84 UW and 86 W, so it is somewhat of an upward trend.

My SAT Score, I'm hoping to get around the 2200 range.

I have taken 1 honors class freshman year, 2 honors classes sophomore year, and 3 AP classes Junior year (and 1 self study but I'll have to see the results on that)

My ECs are very good- lots of leadership positions, VP of this club, School board for that club, and I think I can land some pretty decent ECs.

Be brutally honest. Should I apply? If so/if not, which other colleges should I be looking at with a 3.5 UW 3.6-3.7 W with relatively good projected (I hope) SAT scores and good ECs?

If UR is where you want to go, APPLY! A wide range of GPA’s, SAT’s, ACT’s, EC’s are accepted. Your GPA, by itself, does not eliminate you. Nobody here can tell you “You’re in” or “You’re hosed”. UR wants a complete student. Your essay is your opportunity to set yourself apart from a bunch of people who look just like you. I strongly believe that my daughter was accepted because of her great essay and being committed to a couple of EC’s. Her grades and scores looked just like 1000 other people. She was opposite of you: She had something like a 1900 SAT, a 32 ACT and a 3.9/4.3 (+/-). Put a lot of thought into your essay and go for it!

Do you mind if I ask what your parents income bracket was? I’m in a ****ty situation because my dad is on unemployment, and with pension + Social security he is making like $70,000 – but assuming he won’t get a job (and he probably won’t bc he is aging) it’ll drop to like $40,000 once I turn 18.

The base year, however is when he is making 70k so I’m worried about financial aid!
