I got accepted into the University of Michigan School of Music which is really excited since it’s my top choice school! However, I’m having a bit of trouble in my AP Stats class in my 2nd trimester. I have an B+ now but I failed my test (like actually failed, I got an F) but my grade hasn’t been updated yet and I’m worried when it does, it’ll go down to somewhere around a C- or even a D+. (Don’t worry, I’m going to retake the test but just in case it doesn’t go up to a B). The rest of my classes I have all A’s but they’re all “easy” classes. The first trimester I had a C+ in AP Stats but it counted as a B- and I had A’s for the rest of my classes, two of them being AC classes. Will my music school application get rescinded?
Thank you for the help!
on umich website it says they may rescind if you get more than 3 c’s or a d or f
throughout all of high school or the trimester?
From https://admissions.umich.edu/explore-visit/blog/admission-rescinded-it-happens-here’s-how-avoid-it, “If grades from senior year include an F, a D, or three or more Cs, the student’s admission is reassessed by a university grade review committee.”
That said, due to the audition process SMTD has a lower emphasis on GPA and test scores than most of UMich (see http://www.music.umich.edu/prospective_students/admissions/ug/app_proc/acad_prep.htm for fall 2016 SMTD class profile) so may have a bit more flexibility. You can always call SMTD admissions with your concern and ask them whether your situation will be an issue.
Good luck!
I think they only see you mid year and year end scores. Ask your guidance counselor what grades UM sees. You probably have time to bring it up before they get your next grade update.
