Will my October ACT scores be in before Early Action?

I just took my last ACT today (YAY!) and I reported which universities I wanted the scores sent to online. 3 already have previous scores, but I put one new school on it and I'm worried they won't receive it by November 1st. They don't need the writing score, but I did take it, so I don't know if that delays how long it takes for colleges to see it. Will the schools get the scores before I do? Or should I pay the money to have my highest previous score sent just to be safe?

The scores from today’s ACT will be released in 5-8 weeks (Nov. 11- Dec 29). So you would have to send your old score

Some schools accept them for EA. Check each school’s website.

I was waiting for them to tell us where we would put the school code to send it to four colleges for free, but it was never mentioned. I didn’t see any boxes like that on the test today. I remember hearing a quick portion about it on previous tests. When did they mention sending them? I don’t want to pay the 12 dollars to send it now, but its probably too late, right?

I believe you can designate schools when you register for the test online.

Log onto your ACT account and you can designate score reports to be sent when scores are available. Of course this means you can’t review them before they are sent, they will be sent automatically once they are available. you get 4 reports to send for free.

OK, thank you so much. for some reason, I thought you would do that in person before taking the test, but I must be confusing it with some other standardized test. Thanks for the help.

@littlemissdancer, you might want to check with that particular school in question. Most schools accept the October test for EA/ED so it shouldn’t be a problem but since the school in question does not have a previous score on file for you I would check just in case. Also, if the school in question is a school that superscores your composite (or at least considers your best subscores) you wouldn’t have anything to lose other than $12 by sending them a previous score (in case the previous test has any higher subsection scores than the test you just took). Honestly I would send them a previous score now just in case, and perhaps contact the school to find out if the previous score needs to be rush delivered?
