I’m out of state, and I was deferred. I applied with a 3.2uw and 3.7w. My senior grades will MOST LIKELY look like:
AP Physics 1: 90
AP Calculus AB: 81
Irrelevant required class: 87
Drafting Independent Study: 94
Adv. Game Design: 94
English H: 94
My math class is the highest I could go (i didn’t take easy classes is what im saying. AP Physics 2 is the most advanced physics at my school. I applied to LSA for computer science if that matters.
Umich average unweighted gpa is 3.87 so your unweighted gpa is way below their average even for an in state person. (Many students from my in state top 5 feeder school were rejected with uw 3.7 gpa) Unless you have a hook like recruited athlete u have a very small chance (1%) of getting in. Definitely look at other options.
umich defers pretty much everyone early action. my friend has a 3.2 uw gpa and didn’t even bother applying to umich because she knew her grades weren’t there even though she had the legacy status (her mom went there). she was deferred from msu also and she’s in state, but she already knew that msu was a reach for her. gpa is the most important factor for umich. a person from my feeder school had a 3.5 uw gpa and 36 act score and was rejected from umich so even a high test score won’t make up for a low gpa. (he’s at msu now) a 3.2 gpa already cuts out like the top 50 schools in the country. this is a more realistic list of schools you can get into with a 3.2 gpa. http://www.collegesimply.com/guides/3.2-gpa-colleges/?view=all
Agree with @Eeeee127. Getting deferred from UMich early is almost impossible. 4 of my friends last year with <3.0 UW GPA’s and <28 ACT were deferred last year. Unless you’re a criminal or have a gpa under like 2, you can’t really be rejected EA.
