If I apply to UMich after my first semester (ends Dec. 22), but before the Feb. 1 deadline, will it hurt my chances of admission? I REALLY want my 1st semester grades to be in my cumlative GPA.

They won't be in the GPA that umich will look at.

Same here. I REALLY need UofM to look at my senior year GPA. The thing is, (at least in my opinion) Its MUCH better to submit your app early...at worst you'll get deferred if you apply early. Someone last year at my school had a 26 ACT, 3.0 GPA and he got deferred from engineering, so unless you have really really low scores and GPA you will get deferred (if not accepted right away).

Then send in your 1st semester GPA and some more awards and stuff, maybe another supp. rec etc. and they'll consider your app again WITH all the new stuff.

Yeah, im just worried about getting an outright rejection. So I probably will get deferred with a 4.0 weighted gpa and a 33 ACT???

Why do you insist on sharing your weighed GPA? We can't help you when you give us your weighed GPA since it is specifically based on how your high school does things. There are 10,000 high schools in the US, and they each have their own grading system. Michigan cannot afford to interpret each high school's grading system.

The only number Michigan will look at is your unweighed GPA for your core academic classes for your Sophomore and Junior years. If it is over 3.7, along with your 33 on the ACT, you are in. If it is between 3.5 and 3.7 (given your good ACT score), you still have a chance of getting in immediately, but you may be deferred. If it is between 3.0 and 3.5, you will most likely be deferred.

Apply early.
