Will not taking science Junior year hurt my chances in getting into a good college?

Hey everyone, I had a question about my schedule. I am currently a Junior this year and I do not have a science class. My current classes consist of:

Math A
English A
Life Skills A
History B+
Advanced Computer Graphics Design A

My GPA in 9th grade was around 3.1. 1st semester of 10th grade it was a 2.9 but 2nd semester I finished with a 3.4 .This year I had decided to take 5 classes instead of the usual 6 so I can get better grades in my Junior year since I will be getting an hour more of sleep in the morning, last year on some days I was struggling to focus and stay awake during school. In my district you are required to take 3 years of science to graduate high school. So far for my science credits in 9th grade I had a science class that had a little bit of chemistry, physics, and biology. In 10th grade I had biology. Currently this year I have no science class. In senior year I was planning on taking my final year of science credit of either physics or chemistry. Maybe even both. I am not worried that I wont be graduating my high school because I will be getting my final science credits ( along with some other final credits) in my senior year. What I am worried about is the college I want to apply for is going to think I'm lazy and slacking through the school year for not having science. Will the college know I'm going to be having physics senior year? I need to do some EC activities aswell I am signing up to volunteer at a hospital for 6 months for at least 4 hours a week. I am also planning on getting a job and I am going to sign up for Key Club (A school club for community service). Does it matter if I took my final science credit in senior year instead of junior year? Thanks, sorry for the long read.

Life skills…

Yeah, consumer life skills.

Depending on your definition of “good college”, not having chemistry or physics will hurt your chances. Most colleges recommend 4 years of science.

Those look like pretty weak classes.

But it’s still improvement and you should get into a state school.

Thats what I’m trying to do, I want to go to the University of Washington. Will taking any IB or AP classes senior year help? I am finding my Math and English class to be way to easy so far this year.

For University of Washington, you’d probably need about 3.5 cumulative with 1 point weight for Honors/AP and a decent(1950ish) SAT score.

So if I do take an AP class next year in senior year it will help my chances getting into UW?

It might help you, but UW is strict on rescinding acceptance. So if you think you’d get a C or lower in that AP class, don’t take it.

Ok thanks dude, one last question from you. Does it matter if I’m taking physics/chemistry senior year other than junior year? I have considered having another class so I go back to 6 classes instead of 5 and taking Physics/chemistry there but we have been in school for 2 months already so they are pretty ahead on their units and have already had previous tests and labs if I join now I will be catching up and it will most likely drop my junior year gpa since chemistry/physics isn’t really my strong points. Do you think it is worth it? Or should I just finish up physics/chem senior year instead.

Yes it’ll hurt. Just don’t take AP Physics, brah. It’s killer.

Will it heavily effect it? Why does it matter that I will take it senior year instead of junior year?

It probably won’t hurt too much.

I wouldn’t recommend joining now.

Just continue pwning in Junior year and you’ll be fine.

Thanks dude. For sure I will try my hardest this year to get great grades and study hard for the SAT this year. I’m going to make a meeting with my counselor tomorrow and see his opinion on all this.
