At this point, I've only been accepted to SDSU although I have also applied to UC Santa Barbara. I've heard things about SDSU rescinding admissions, and frankly, I'm kinda alarmed because last semester, I got a 'D' in Ap Art History and two C's in my AP English and AP stats classes. However, I have a valid reason: My grandmother developed alzheimers around the start of my senior year, and it progressed pretty badly in November. I spent most days-at least 3 a week- after I finished up soccer practice driving forty-five minutes to see her, and my grades suffered because of it.
AP Art history is not a required class as I already have two fine arts classes on my transcript. Plus, this semester, I'm doign much better and am looking to finish out the semester in June with an A and a good score on the AP test. Do you think if I explained to the admissions officers at SDSU (or Santa Barbara, if I get in) what happened and how I'm doing now, they won't rescind my admission?

UC said you must get a minimum 3.0 gpa and all classes with grades ‘C’ or above
I guess you can attach an explanation when you submit your final transcript …
