Will the "Average" kids plz list your "Average" Sat scores.

This is not for the HYSPM and any other "Fancy" I-V-Y initial. This thread is for the average with average scores. I am very curious to know what your "AVERAGE" SAT score is and what "Average/Reach schools that you have applied to/will be attending. So many of these threads with SAT Scores of 1980 to 2350 - who- not ME!. I would like to see scores of "MY PEERS" with scores of 1000 to 1800. This should help the "Average" juniors for next year.

i got a
M:680
W:640
CR:540

Essay: 11

i feel terrible about my critical reading score. [cries]

Have a “normal” son

R 600
M 640

W 580

Is a Junior and has only taken once…
Good luck to you.. and other normals!

mom0911…your S scored great for his first time. His scores are over 1800 and ever since the SAT score went from 1600 to 2400, 1800 is what I am hearing is very acceptable with a high GPA. I scored much lower than your S. I am sure if he took the SAT one more time he will at least score 1900 to possibly 2000. Depending on his GPA he should not have any problem getting into his match schools and 1 or 2 reaches. Unlike me I took it 3 times

1st 1630
2nd 1710
3rd 1740

I could not get my math over 600 :(

I am thrilled to see this discussion.

My son’s (junior) scores 1st Exam:

M 610
CR 460
W 440

He has a diagnosed reading disability (thus the low CR and W scores). We have set up one-on-one tutoring for the CR and W. Hope to at least break 500.

What do you think of early action for the reach schools? Early action makes me nervous unless you are really sure of your choice. It was suggested by one admissions counselor that this is the way some lower scoring students can be admitted to reach schools.

cathy111…Keep in mind early action (EA) does not mean that your are binded to attend that school. EA is different from ED. ED is for Early Decision and therefore means that once the college accepts your S, your S then have to withdraw from the other colleges and attend his ED college. I would definitely apply EA to his reach schools. It never hurts to apply EA. I am more for that than Early Decision (ED). (Unless he absolutely knows where he would like to attend)
Also try to have an outstanding essay and stay focused during SR yr. My top choice college asked to see my 2nd semester grades in Jan - thank goodness I had made Honor Roll. ---- and still no word yet, but I have high hopes. I believe I should find out this Monday or Tuesday. Your S should definitely take the SAT at least one more time. Good Luck with Senior Yr.

Thanks nextoprah.

My son is scheduled for the May exam, and he will begin one-on-one tutoring for April.

Do you know if the schools shy away from kids with learning disabilities? My son is a student with a 3.5 GPA, and has a reading disability.

What do you mean average? You all have scores that are drastically over average. Congratulations, but come on you guys. You’re all coming off as pretencious scum.

At least recognize your scores as really good, instead of just average.

how a bout a 1650 (M:590 CR:500 W:560). I don’t know if I want to take them over. This was my first time taking without any studying

cathy111…I don’t believe so. But if his learning disability is very noticeable, then I would definitely mention on paper or in his essay. But with a GPA as well as your S, I doubt they will take his LD into consideration unless he is taking very rigorous courses.

Kapcarp2 and Someguy1337…this thread is mainly for 1000 to 1800. I checked out the under 2300 club and everyone still scored between 1900 to 2400 and are still whining and complaining about being rejected from YALE, HARVARD, BOSTON COLLEGE. I personally did not apply to those schools b/c those schools will not even take one look at my “Average” SAT scores. Thank You!

alexhernandez6…I too scored in the 1600’s the first time. If you feel comfortable with that score to get you into your match schools then you are okay. But if you plan to apply to a reach school, I would suggest taking them at least one more time. I am still waiting on my 1st choice - it’s in between a reach/match. I believe had I applied with just a 1630 they would not have taken a 2nd look and request my 2nd semester grades. Good Luck!

Really? Funny, I screen that thread every day and I’ve never noticed “complaining”. People post where they’ve been admitted to. They don’t vent. Stop making it something it’s not.

And no one has scored over 2300 (hence UNDER 2300)…read more carefully!

I’m really glad someone created this group because SAT’s aren’t everything.

So many people on this website have incredibly high scores, but that’s not the average person. I remember one of my prep course teachers told us that the average score is a 1500. I don’t know if it’s true but I’m sure it’s around there.

Last year when I saw my SAT scores, I was just devastated because I am one of the average scorers. It’s just so hard to see everyone around you getting 2300s and whatnot, but it’s not everyone.

I was fortunate enough to get into my top choice school: Washington University in St. Louis with average scores (under 2000 on my SATs). I made up for my SATs with high grades, using all resources I had, an interview, etc.

A note to all upcoming Seniors: if you get average scores, it’s not everything nor is it the end of the world. There is a college out there for you. If you’re like me and your top choice is a reach school, give it all you got. Visit the school, get an interview, do your best in school, etc. Anything can happen. SATs don’t mean anything in the end, nor do they measure you’re intelligence. If they did, you wouldn’t be able to raise your score or learn how to take the test. So don’t feel down by your scores, it’ll all work out in the end :-D

you know I thought my 2260 was average

vc08…excuse me 1900-2300…thank you!

Thanks musicgirl for this quote-----A note to all upcoming Seniors: if you get average scores, it’s not everything nor is it the end of the world. There is a college out there for you. If you’re like me and your top choice is a reach school, give it all you got.

vc08 - again Average to me is - 1000-1800 and you didn’t or felt you couldn’t apply to a HYSPM and any other I-V-Y initial! I’m HAPPY for those “Above” average students that can apply to the IVIES, that apparently have minds like Einstein, but again (vc08) this is for the "Average"students. Go back to the Uber, Uber 2400 oh excuse me 2300 club!.
