How do they protect privacy?

Most likely they will ask for a social security number.

Yeah, the lady I talked to said you'll need your social security number.

im calling right after 9:00, will it be almost impossible to get through or what? I NEED TO KNOW lol

Do you think it will be automated or a real person?

they would have to pick an extremely heartless group of people to be the ones to answer the phones and not feel guilty about giving out so many deferrals haha, im hoping for an automation but i could care less

The woman on the phone who gave me my decision (acceptance!) actually turned out to be my admissions counselor. She asked me for my birthday to verify.

Not surprised it was an admissions counselor; it's probably an all-hands-on-board sort of situation where the phone lines are swamped.

Anyway, congratulations to those accepted, and best of luck for those continuing their application experience...

Last name, first name, date of birth, confirm all that info = congratulations

How long did you guys wait to get through? It's busy ...

ugh its busy and i cant get through

i waited forever and was not prepared when i finally connected. the woman who answered sounded EXASPERATED haha but yeah, last name, first name, date of birth, the georgetown admissions committee has reviewed your application and deferred it to regular admissions. oh well, i was expecting that- georgetown was a big reach for me. i have some more "match" schools that i would be happy with on my list.

exact same lady. but i did get my regional admission officer to talk to.

Deeeeeffffffffffffffffffeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrred.

Georgetown isn't hopping on the "no loan" bandwagon anyways though, so maybe it's for the best.

ugggg. i kept calling, but now they're closed...should I press 4 for immediate assistance or is that for a real emergency?

^ if they say that, tell them "this is a ****ing emergency!"

i called at 9:10 am and got through with no waiting, i was soo happy, i took the rest of the school day off. all they asked for was my name and birthday so no SS or georgetown id required

I got in over the phone, too. I couldn't wait any longer!

wordd same here
the guy like faked me out for the first part of the convo, saying "you know, it was a very hard year and some really great candidates had to be deferred... but you got in!"

maybe we got the same guy srm, because i totally got the same "well, as you probably know we had a 33% increase in applicants, and the pool was really competitive this year... but you have been accepted."

i guess they get really bored - gotta entertain yourself somehow right?
