Will this affect my GPA??

I took both Chemistry 10 @De Anza College and Chemistry 25 @Foothill College
To clarify each class:
Chemistry 10 is an introductory chem class w/ lab for NON-Science majors (fulfills IGETC sci+lab req)
Chemistry 25 is an introductory chem class w/ lab for Science majors (prereq for Gen Chem)

I got a 'B+' in Chem 10 and a 'C+'in Chem 25.

How will this be calculated into my GPA? Will the UC's calculate both grades, or only accept one. And if they accept only one of the grades, which one will they choose?

TIA.

most likely both.

Agreed, likely both.

Are you sure? These are pretty much the same courses. Maybe I’m confused with the idea that these intro courses may not count if you’ve taken the following course beforehand…

…bump…

That’s actually a decent point. Check with a UC rep during a visit to your CCC.

They are sister schools so the course numbers would be exactly the same, which means they aren’t the same class and that both grades will count. De Anza doesn’t offer Chem 25 and Foothill doesn’t offer Chem 10, one is Introductory Chemistry and the other is Fundamentals of Chemistry.

EDIT: You also won’t get credit for Chem 10 or Chem 25 if you took them after Chem 1A.

This is what I was thinking of. Is there a maximum units policy for these two classes, the way there is for 10/25 and 1A?

Sorry, dupe.

For De Anza:
1A,1B and 30A, 30B combined: maximum credit, one series.
10 and 30A combined: maximum credit, one course. No credit for 10 or 30A if taken after 1A.

For Foothill:
No credit for 25 or 30A, 30B if taken after a college level course in Chemistry 25,
30A and 30B combined: maximum credit, one course.

It looks like both will be counted towards my GPA. I’ll speak to a counselor and get back to you guys. THANKS!

Easy answer: if both are UC- transferable both will count towards your UC gpa.
