Hi, guys. I'll be a senior this year and I'm applying to UF at the moment and am beginning to brainstorm possible ideas for my application essay. Of course they hit us with the "meaningful experience, moment, etc." question and I just wanted some advice. Band has been a huge part of my life in the past four years and I was thinking I should probably write about that. We have a motto, SUDA, actually, that I feel would be a topic worth discussing (how it has changed me, how it will still remain with me beyond high school, etc). Do you think this would be a suitable topic?

It's fine, as long as you have a creative twist to it.

It's fine, but keep in mind that a lot of people will be writing about topics like this, so try to stand out by being authentically you (nobody can do that). To add to what olgita said, being creative can help bring out your personality, but don't feel forced to if you're not very creative. Just make sure part of your personality and character come through in your essay.
