I am in the 2nd semester of my senior year and have been accepted into U of A.
All my grades are the same as when I got accepted into U of A except my math. It went from a C down to a D. I wont be able to get it to a C by the end of the year.
Will U of A revoke my acceptance because my math grade drop down to a D during my 2nd semester?
I don’t know this schools policies. But D’s and F’s can be cause for rescinding admission. They may just send you a warning and you’ll be fine as along as you don’t fail the class or any other classes
Your best bet is to meet immediately with your GC. S/he probably is more specifically expert regarding both U of A matters and potential admissions rescissions than CC posters.
Often, "getting ahead of this issue" is very helpful; FAR better that you (probably with your GC's assistance and possibly with his/her personal connection to U of A's applicable Regional Admissions Officer) explain what happened and why NOW, than the university presumes seniorities and asks difficult questions after your final transcript is received, in late-June or early-July.
I'd also strongly suggest that you work VERY diligently on the remainder of your courses. One D with solid As and Bs will be MUCH easier for the U of A to tolerate than a D with mostly Cs/Bs, and possibly an A.
I would call or send them an email - be proactive and honest. They’re going to find out either way, but it comes across as more mature if you reach out to them.
Are there any extenuating circumstances that caused your grade to drop, or is it senioritis? Ask your teacher if there is anyway whatsoever for you to pull your grade up - on your end, that means doing all the hw (no exceptions), doing any extra credit, seriously studying for all tests and quizzes and all that unfun stuff :P.
D’s can be a problem. But likely they will just see your final grade, not the semester grade (check with your GC). Do everything possible to bring the final grade up to the C range — see your teacher after school, get a tutor, ask a friend who is good in math to help you etc.
