Will UCLA rescind my offer of admission?

8 week classes are starting tomorrow so, if you’re desperate like I am, try to find 1 or 2 classes, and add them to your schedule changes.

1 (or 2) A’s and a couple B’s and C’s should even out nicely.

@Cayton I remade my facebook 2 days ago. You’ll have more friends than me for sure

@Cayton, when you do contact them, can you let us know what the response is? I’m in a semi-similar situation. 18 units and might end up under a 3.0 for this semester. Certainly nothing below a C, though. My cumulative GPA will drop by about .2 or .3 after this semester finishes.

I received the standard conditions of acceptance–thankfully–but I am a little bit worried because they’re pretty vague about what they consider acceptable for the last term before transferring.

And if they do require a 3.0 for the spring term like UC Berkeley does and it looks like I’m not going to be able to get it, I’m probably going to drop one of the classes in which I’ll get a C.

@onehandedred‌

Haha, maybe.

@Gunnnn‌

Certainly! Your situation is indeed very similar to mine. I think I’ll call them on Monday or Tuesday(If I do call, it’ll definitely be by the end of Tuesday) and see what they have to say. But I’ve read on this forum that they’re known for being vague on the phone. I’ll also try emailing them soon.

But your major is very impacted so your circumstances may differ. I suggest you contact them, too.

This post doesn’t give me much hope: <a href=“Will UCLA rescind their offer of admission? - #6 by shawnabehrens - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums”>Will UCLA rescind their offer of admission? - #6 by shawnabehrens - UC Transfers - College Confidential Forums;

I just sent them an email.

I don’t know if they’ll be vague or not about it as many have said they are in responding to these kinds of emails, but they’ll respond in 3-5 business days, which means that by this Friday, they should have a response for me.

I’ll be sure to bump this thread and let you guys know what they have to say. Thanks for your advice.

Sorry to bump this, but I forgot to include some info:

In the worst-case scenario, I’ll get 2 C grades and 2 B grades this semester. This will decrease my GPA from 3.83 to 3.58 if this happens. The 2 C grades I’ll be getting will be in elective classes that I only need for the units.

Do you think this could cause UCLA to rescind my admission? I asked them this question and I’m waiting for them to get back to me this week, but I wanted you guys’s opinions on it.

Some other info: my major is not impacted at all and all of my major prep was completed in the fall semester of 2013.

It seems that in the eyes of admissions officers, based on provisional acceptances, what matters more is the 2.5 spring GPA that 2 Bs and 2 Cs will put you at, rather than the .25 drop in your overall GPA.

Especially seeing how Berkeley absolutely requires people to have at least a 3.0 in their last term. Although this is LA that we’re talking about.

@Gunnnn‌
Do you know anyone who’s been rescinded under similar circumstances?

@Gunnnn‌

Do you think I’m screwed if I get 2 B’s and 2 C’s this semester?

I’d assume it’s too late to drop now, so is there no way to bring those C’s up to B’s? I’d assume that 2.5GPA this semester is a serious drop for you, so you might be in danger. My contract says report “drops in academic performance” so I’d contact them. Make sure you have an excuse lmao. GOOD LUCK.

@onehandedred‌

I can still drop classes. I’m not saying I will get 2 C’s, but there is a possibility. If I do get those kinds of grades, most damage it’ll do to my GPA is decrease from 3.83 to 3.58.

Yeah, under the academic changes it tells everyone they have to inform UCLA of 2 or more C grades or any D’s/F’s.
@cayton, I think you’d be fine though. We’ll have to see what they say I guess.

@Zalrons‌

Thanks, man. I hope they’ll be OK with it if I do get those grades.

I genuinely thought after admissions were done things would be chill. I was a naive little kid.

@cayton, yeah, I just don’t see them rescinding someone for a couple C’s and B’s. Plus your GPA for philosophy is much higher than the average as it is.

@Zalrons‌

Yeah, I keep saying that to myself, especially since three of the classes I’m taking are electives, and one of the classes is for IGETC.

But I guess it’s hard to think rationally when you’re in this state of mind.

@onehandedred‌

You’re not really out of the woods until you submit your transcripts and take the last step toward being a student at your new school. :frowning: So we still have a ways to go until July when we’re officially students at UCLA.

@Cayton If you are, then I am as well. :)

I really want to know what their policy is about withdrawals, though. None of my classes are prereqs, and the one or two in which I might get a C I don’t even need for IGETC completion.

@Gunnnn‌

As long as you will still earn 60+ units by the end of spring, you should be fine. At least, that’s what I’ve heard.

Hell, I’m contemplating dropping a class myself, but I want to see this through.

I really want to too, because I do like what I’m learning from my classes, but… 18 units two semesters in a row have made me so exhausted and the possibility of UCLA admission being away from me… I think I want to keep that.

Whether or not I drop a class depends on how I do on the test this Tuesday. If I’m going to end up getting a C in that… Bye, astronomy!
