Will UCLA rescind my offer of admission?

@snowbosan9‌
Good luck! Keep the forum updated! Sounds like you’ll be fine though. :)

I’m in a similar situation. Dropping a class that has nothing to do with my major or 60 units. It’s also my 5th class this semester and the circumstances are basically unavoidable. I expect they’ll say the same thing when I call and I’m really stressed. I wonder if you visit and ask they’ll be less vague? Wishful thinking. They probably get so many hypothetical situation questions. :stuck_out_tongue:

@credulitykills‌
I’d like to believe that. :)

Any news?

@Gunnnn‌

They’ve yet to respond. :(

@Cayton worse case you can drop the classes

@sonic23‌

Yeah, one of the classes I might get a C in isn’t necessary for IGETC or my major, or even for completing 60+ units. If UCLA gets back to you and says they’re OK with you dropping that history class(Since you don’t need it for anything, really and your circumstances are quite similar to mine), I may just drop one of my classes.

It’s too late. The last day for SMC students to withdraw was April 8th I believe. However, there’s a special option to withdraw if he has extenuating circumstances such as a medical issue so, if he’s desperate, Cayton better break his collar bone to get a late W, but even then, it’s up to the professor to decide.

At this point, I’d recommend Cayton to sign up for two 2nd 8 week classes and get A’s in both because that’s the only way to get his GPA up to 3.0 this semester assuming he gets 2 B’s and 2 C’s.

If he gets below 3.0? Who knows what will happen, but his decision may be rescinded since 3.0 seems to be the minimum gpa needed for spring in the provisional contracts.

Also, they didn’t say that the 3.0 needs to be achieved with only UC transferable courses, meaning, if Cayton signs up for a bunch of non transferable classes like remedial Algebra, he can easily get a 3.0

His time is running out. SMC’s 2nd 8 week classes just started so, if he decides to listen to my advice, he better start running all over campus and grabbing as many late add codes as possible.

@Cayton‌

I recommend AHIS 72 with Mihaylovich and Bus 1 with Veas. They have excellent ratings on ratemyprofessor, and it’s all online. Email them for add codes as soon as possible and pray you get add codes.

If not them, there’s a Soc 1 and Nutrition class that are also online. Email those professors too just in case.

@Cayton

Is the class that awful? Are you sure you don’t see yourself ending up with at least a B?

@Cayton ill let you know what they say but by any chance can you directly contact you UCLA rep? To get advise on what to do next. I didn’t know SMC had such an early drop date, mine is till May 11th i believe

@‌sonic23

Which school do you attend?

@Burntcorpse ELAC :slight_smile:

@BurntCorpse‌

lol, believe it or not, I’m taking AHIS 72 right now with Mihaylovich right now. I currently have a B in that class but I may just get a C in it.

I can’t drop this class, though. Need it for IGETC. My other class is very unnecessary, though, and I have until May 18th to drop it; the deadline is actually pretty late in the semester. I bombed the midterm for this class and may end up with a C.

@ocnative‌

I may get B’s, but there’s a real chance I may get C grades. maybe a 40-50% chance of getting one C and 30~40% chance of getting two C grades.

@cayton I took ahis72 with her… loved it. Why do you think you’re gonna get a C??

What about not reporting “transferable” courses taken 5 years ago that have nothing to do with the intended major?

@chaoscuber‌ Yeah, that’s bad. Clear it up ASAP. Do you have bad grades in those courses?

@credulitykills‌ The thing is, I have a 3.96 without them and I’m in the process of getting those grades changed to "W"s since they were taken in middle school… I’m waiting to contact them after I get them changed, you feel me?

@uclammg‌

I’m not sure I’ll do all that well on the museum paper and although I got a good grade on her first exam, I’m not sure I can get good grades on her last two tests.

How did you do on the museum paper and exams?

@Cayton‌ I got an A on the museum paper and from what I remember, she graded it pretty easily. I probably got A/B’s on the exams, and ended up with an A at the end. If you did good on the first exam and you’re doing those weekly assignments, then I wouldn’t worry too much.

Also, according to her grade distributions, about 95% of her class gets A’s and B’s.

update
I just dropped it and submitted the academic changes. They said it will take 15 days for them to review it. I may be sent a revised provisional admission contract or rescind their offer. 8-}
gaaaahhh
I’m not out of the woods yet. But the rest of my classes are fine. I’ll find out May 7.
