I am an international applicant who is admitted to UCD, UCSD and UCI (rejected by UCSB). I got one "D" in Chinese in my senior year second semester. (my school ends pretty soon because we have to sit a public exam). Am I doomed?
I got a few Bs and Cs in 10th and 11th grade, and even one "E" (the lowest passing grade in my school) in the second semester of 11th grade, so considering the fact that they admit me, my "D" may not be that bad compared to my previous years.
(For your reference, my previous grades for Chinese were B,C,C,E,A (and D for this semester)
If I use the formula for UC GPA (my school doesn't calculate GPA), then my UC GPA for each semester starting from 10th grade is 3.5, 3.44, 3.5, 3.13, 3.75, 3.25I)

I have already contacted the admissions office of UCSD and is waiting for its reply, but what do you guys think? What's the impact of this single "D"?

thanks

anyone? Davis replied “We will, however, make an exception and allow you to maintain your admission status for fall 2014 despite your D grade in Chinese.”
What’s my chance for UCSD?
thanks

Only UCSD can answer that for you.

@writingcyh did davis tell you that over the phone? or through email?

None of can know if they “will” rescind you -schools tend to look at these on a case to case basis- but unfortunately it is a possibility.
All you can really do is keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best. Good Luck!

@alliecakes I told them through the online application status portal and they emailed me

By the way, after submitting my official transcript to UCSD, if they decide to rescind my offer (I hope not), am I allowed to submit my deposit to another college provided that I do not miss the May 1st deadline?
My major concern is whether my chosen college will really admit me if I am only allowed to submit the deposit to one college.

@writingcyh why did you send your transcript? Did they ask for it?
I think you can only send in your SIR by may 1

Was the email from eForms saying Please note that no decision can be made regarding whethee the information you sent will affect your admission status until we have received your final official transcript with all grades reported. ?

writingcyh, from past thread there was a student with a D but was not rescinded.
I think it’s case by case but I can’t find the old thread ever since CC change to new format.

I know of a student that received a D in AP Calc his first semester senior year. He did better in second semester and wasn’t rescinded from UCLA. However, I don’t know their situation.
Also, I talked to a UCSD admission officer yesterday, and they said that they will reevaluate a student and recalculate your GPA once they receive your final transcript. I asked her about the chances of being rescinded and she said 50/50.
