We did too but no postcard (I think?) as a Monroe Scholar - they did say it was an “early decision.” It was a surprise as I don’t believe RD is expected until the end on the month. Decisions were out on 3/30 last year.

What was in the portal? An acceptance for RD?
Applicants who were accepted RD as Monroe Scholars received decisions yesterday. The remaining RD notifications should occur toward the end of the month.

Okay, yes. What the others are saying is correct. We did not expect to hear about RD until the end of the month (even following the cypher postcard). The acceptance said something about early notification due to Monroe. S was surprised and thrilled! Sorry. Did not mean to add to any stress or confusion. Crossing my fingers for more good news to come in this group!

Does anyone have any best guesses for the RD date? Any pattern from past years?
Last year’s RD decision date was pretty late – like March 30th. Earlier in this or another thread here, someone reported W&M told them decisions would “hopefully” be out in late March, but that there was another increase in applications received.

Did W&M send out any notification prior to RD release date in the past? Will we know when to expect decisions? DD has some great options, but W&M has risen on her list after some virtual tours and info sessions. Just seems like they release later than most.

Portal check reminder email said “At the end of the month we will be communicating admissions decisions”. As a result, I’m guessing March 31 (but could be April 1).

Nope, no insight. But we would love to hear soon! This is the last decision my S is waiting for, and a “yes” could definitely impact things

Curious if kids (or parents) are receiving regular (or even irregular) communication from W&M via email? My S says he’s received nothing after the email saying his application was complete. What’s weird is he got a ton of emails (marketing) from them before applying. His portal is up to date with mid-year grades etc., but radio silence otherwise. W&M is high on his list so hopefully the silence is not a bad sign
Pretty much radio silence for us too. That’s been typical of most schools until decisions have come out so not worried about it.

That’s good to hear. Only one other college for us was quiet after applying. The rest remained pretty communicative (Visit! Hear from students! Sign-up for a virtual event!)

I know with the other schools my DD22 has been accepted to (and 2 she’s on the waitlist) I get tons of emails from them. I’ve really not seen anything from W&M. I think I’ve seen ones from them in the past. I will say the by April 1st deadline is really late compared to all other schools she’s applied to. I think my DD is going to commit to another school today because she’s going to miss out on registering for their summer orientation that opens tomorrow if she doesn’t. I know other schools already have the housing forms available and are first come first serve.

agree, W&M very quiet. my DD did a virtual tour and student panel with them since she has not been able to visit yet. their late decision date may make it impossible for her to visit by May 1 if she is accepted. she likes what she has seen virtually, but would be tough to commit without being on campus ever

FWIW accepted students day is 4/9 if you wanted to plan for the possibility.
