William & Mary Class of 2019 ED Applicants Discussion

@jjj16 I know which scholarship you are talking about.

" The William & Mary Scholars Award is presented each year to a small group of academically distinguished students who have overcome unusual adversity and/or are members of underrepresented groups who would contribute to campus diversity. Many will be the first members of their families to attend college. All applicants are considered for the award and no separate application is needed. Awards are worth the amount of in-state tuition and fees and are renewable each year as long as the recipient remains in good academic standing at the College."

Did any of you guys write a supplement essay? What did you think about it?

I loved the supplement I wrote. In fact, I loved it so much that I turned it into my common app essay lol! So now I have to write an entirely different supplement.

@daniil450 I wrote the personal statement! I chose a topic that I’m really passionate about so I enjoyed writing it and I think it is much stronger than my CommonApp essay. Have you wrritten yours?

This thread is such a good idea. Good luck y’all!

@daniil450‌ I wrote my supplement about something that I really believe in, and like @ribbonroad224‌ I actually liked writing it! I’m hoping that my supplement essay will give me better odds of acceptance considering I’m an OOS female. Do you guys have a lot of recs?

@daniil450 I wrote my supplement all about switching high schools, which I did halfways through junior year. I added a lot of personal anecdotes and was pretty happy with it!

@0blondie2‌ I have a counselor rec, but that letter is standard and not very personal, and two teacher recs that are pretty personalized. My neighbors that are active W&M alum also wrote a letter that went directly to the admissions office. What about you?

@wm2019‌ That’s great that you got a letter from an alum! I have two teacher recs and a college counselor rec, all are pretty personal because we’re a really small school so it’s easy to get to know everyone, and my varsity coach wrote one too.

My birthday is during the week that we find out decisions, so I’m either gonna have a great 18th or a terrible one

I’m also an OOS female… so scared. What are your gpas? I’m scared mine is too low :neutral_face:

ok I don’t know why it turned my emoji into the words “neutral face”…

Got two recs from teachers, both of which were sponsors of clubs I founded and led while at my school. Got a rec from my counselor as well, obviously.

@Runnergirl76‌ my school actually doesn’t do gpas or ranks!

@0blondie2‌ wow, same! When is your birthday? Mine is Dec 6.

@0blondie2 you are so lucky!

Submitted my application!!! Now we wait!

@Runnergirl76‌ ik I’m so glad we don’t do thosee
@daniil450‌ woo!!
@ribbonroad224‌ mine is Dec 2! It’ll literally be the best bday present ever if we get accepted on our birthdays haha

@0blondie2‌ @ribbonroad224‌ my school doesn’t do ranks either! We have GPAs, but they are very different from how they are usually done, and we are on a trimester, which I guess is different from most high schools. And haha you guys are making me happy my birthday is in March…

@wm2019‌ I like not having ranks or gpas! We also have very few APs that are offered and we can only take 4 APs max per year, but only like 1 of those isn’t for senior year, so almost everyone doesn’t have APs until senior year.

@blondie2 can I transfer to your school? :slight_smile: Mine offers all of them so I’m in 6 right now. I love the classes, but I"m getting really sick of going to bed at 1 ughh

That awkward moment when I tag the wrong blondie… @0blondie2‌
