Williams College ED Chances?

I’m worried that my low unweighted GPA may put me out of the running for ED, although my SAT, the fact I’m a URM, legacy (grandfather), and my ECs may make up for it- thoughts?

3.76 Unweighted (yikes) --> Have taken entirely IB/AP/Honors classes (besides Health and PE) throughout high school, so B’s coming from those more challenging classes, and are almost exclusively in the STEM areas, which I do not want to go into at all, although my academic record has been fairly consistent thus far.

3.76 is not that low and you are both a legacy and URM. Don’t worry too much about the GPA. Focus on your essays and other variables you can control at this point. You have a solid chance.

I agree with glittervine. My daughter is in the class of 2020 (admitted ED), and her g.p.a. and test scores were lower than yours. She did have a “hook”, but I feel that the essay and recommendation portions of her application were very strong. I think you have a great chance, and probably a better chance if you apply ED.

Agreed, even without a hook, ED is the best way to increase your chances. Your research work with the political science department demonstrates real extra effort and passion, could make the difference. Williams seems to like candidates with research experience, I would get an extra recommendation from the professor if he or she really got to know you well.

I think u have a very high chance of getting in
