Williams Visit

We're planning on coming up Thursday, staying at the Maple Terrace Hotel, having our son attend a class on Medieval England (he's interested in History) taught by Professor Kibbs, and then do the information session and the tour. Any other ideas? What about that evening. After thinking about it a lot, he said Williams was his top choice, so we want to make sure he really has a good visit.

There is a great museum on campus you should see. All the first years arrive on Monday so the campus will be brimming with activity. Hope you have a great time!

The first day of classes is September 4th. Thursday, September 5th is a holiday.

Perhaps your son could do an overnight in a dorm while you’re at the Maple Leaf?

Agree, don’t miss the Clark Museum. If you’re interested in art MassMoCa in nearby North Adams is worthwhile.

Check the college listings for what’s on while you’re there. There are usually music and theater performances and talks and lectures in the evening.

Our favorite dinner restaurant, Mezze, has relocated since we’ve been there. It’s now slightly out of town, but I’m sure the food is still great.

The art museums are great, and there’s also a little independent movie theater on Spring Street. Try the Spring Street restaurants (Indian, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese, Mexican, pizza, burgers), since if your son ends up going to Williams that’s where he’d most likely eat on a night out. My personal favorite is Sushi Thai Garden. There’s also a nature trail behind the Clark art institute that takes you up a small hill and gives you a view of campus.

Thanks, we stayed at the Maple Terrace, which was perfect. We ate twice at a place called The '6 Tavern which was on the way, the food and service were excellent, and at the Sushi Thai restaurant on Spring Street. The information session was excellent (the best of the ones we attended) and so was the tour
