@husky10139 hey its not a mistake at all, as long as you indicated in your application that you wanted to study Psychology then I think you should be fine! Especially since you will be getting your AA which shows that you completed all pre-req anyway
@peao1996 She told me by first week of December and i just dont understand why they havent released decisions when our application deadline was September 1st. They had over 3 months
@Girlygirl256 I can get a refund but there is a deadline for that too.
@UWwinter2017 have you tried contacting the school you applied to about this? I think they’d be amiable to giving you an extension
@Girlygirl256 Oh, well I’m not sure, I think they put a safe deadline because they have a high volume of applicants and usually beat that deadline but must be running behind. But I 100% understand the frustration. They’re not technically passed the promised deadline but it seems crazy they need this long for general admissions.
@husky10139 I know major applications had separate due dates from the general admissions (mine was October 5) but I think if you checked you were applying in the same quarter, they would be checking in with that department for a decision. Usually you get your major decision letter with your uw decision letter since you can get into the school/not your major, but I would call an advisor just to make sure they will default you to general admission since you checked off that you were going to apply but did not.
ps @Girlygirl256 i don’t think orientation is open for registration yet. I got a link to register for it, but it says Page 404 not found, and when I tried to look it up, it said the registration doesn’t open until at least mid-november, so I assume they’re waiting to give out more decisions before they let people register. Not entirely sure, but that would be my guess.
I was hoping I’d find out my Thanksgiving. I’m sad now
I completely agree with everything being said. I understand and respect the fact that these decisions take time, but this is becoming unbearably frustrating. I mean, like a few others, I live on the east coast and my entire life seems like it’s now contingent upon this decision letter: if accepted, I will have to move my entire life to Washington, buy plane tickets, and guarantee an apartment in less than a month. It’s a lot to deal with, even after heavily researching everything and knowing what I’ll be packing/flying/etc if I’m accepted. That’s not to say that I was not expecting this, but I didn’t realize how late I’d potentially be planning everything! Like, hello, so much more expensive at the last minute.
@peao1996 Oh well, I hope many of us could hear from them by tonight! I’m just very anxious right now and it’s literally all I could think about right now.
@Girlygirl256 I hope you and everyone else hear back tonight too!!!
@gracejacobs i know it’s not the best option, but craigslist seattle probably has rooms open. That’s how I found my place last year. I rented a room in a house full of fun people and I bet there are people trying to rent out rooms for winter because they;re moving or going abroad or something.
hope that link works
@gracejacobs you would think out of state applicants would hear back first so you guys could plan accordingly. it’s way more expensive to fly out here now especially since the holidays fall around that time.
Thought I would join this thread since i’ve just been observing it for the past months. I’m instate CC 3.8 or something GPA. I can’t check mine online because in high school I took two UW in the high school courses so my myUW thing just looks like how it would for regular students. I was gonna wait to apply Autumn 2017 but when I met with an advisor she told me to apply winter quarter instead. I’m mostly worried about housing. I can drive if I have to but that’s a pain in the ass, getting to UW can take anywhere from 45 minutes to 2 hours.
@abgestumpft you can still check the status online. when you go to myuw.edu and in the middle it should have a link to view information about your uw seattle winter 2017 transfer application. if you click it, it has a pretty generic message, something like “thank you for applying for uw admission 2017. etc.” if it changes to a different message, it may be a sign of if you got in or not.
@abgestumpft me too. I live about 2 hour drive from uw but traffic is so bad these days it easily take 3 hours. Housing is stressing me out
I mean, if I don’t have any choice but to live outside of Seattle I’m probably going to live somewhere like Renton or Bellevue etc. It’s going to be a little bit of a drive but what else can we do since none of us know if we’re admitted or not.
So I also talked to someone today from the admissions office. The lady was very nice and told me a few things: 1. those who are applying directly into a major receive their letters first 2. they have been sending out letters, and if we don’t see a change on our MyUW portals, that means they haven’t made a decision yet, 3. when a decision is made, our portals will change, and 4. all we can really do now is wait.
I explained to her that this is nerveracking for not only out of state transfers, but those who have to register for another semester at CC or a different school. She said she understood and that unfortunately there was nothing anyone could do about it.
@hoping4uw0323 Thank you for the update! I guess now all we could really do is wait. On the bright side, we haven’t been rejected and hopefully something good will come out of this!
@peao1996 it doesn’t, i think i forgot to put my UW net ID on my application or something like that.
@gracejacobs I’ve been looking up plane tickets from the east coast(because I too live on the east) to seattle, and by the looks of it, we’re going to be paying over $350 to get there. If I get accepted and manage to find housing, I plan to fly out the 26th or 27th and attend the orientation that is scheduled for the 28th so that I still manage to find time to work my last few weeks, and get all my things together.
