Winter Rush

I rushed three fraternities in the Fall. I got a bid at one, but I really liked the other ones, so I didn't pledge.

I'm interested in Chi Phi and Pike (Pike because of the awesome parties, their cool house, and one of my good friends got a bid there this fall).

I don't really know much about winter rush though. I heard it sucks and a small amount of people get bids?

How many people usually do winter rush and how many bids are usually given out at those houses?

Is there any way I can go to some of their parties and party with the brothers so they can get to know me better? or are the events usually closed to the members of the fraternity?

Thanks!

Well I know the answer to your second question regarding parties. As long as you know the guys and are planning to rush they will generally let you in unless they don’t like you or some other strong reason. There will be events that are exclusive to pledges that you will obviously not be allowed to attend, but generally you can go to all of the parties.

For sororities winter rush is nothing to compare to fall rush, most sororities don’t even do it. But a lot of fraternities do. I guess it really depends on the house you’re planning to rush. The bigger the chapter, the less guys they’re going to take on in the winter.
