Winter Transfer to University of Michigan - Ann Arbor

What are the chance to get into University of Michigan, the College of Engineering in the winter of 2013?

Current School: University of Michigan - Dearborn
Current GPA: 3.82
Major: Civil Engineering
Credits When Applying: 34
Credits When Transferring: 47
High School GPA: 4.0
ACT: 26

I will have all the prerequisites done for the College of Engineering except for one semester of physics. But I don't know what the point of staying at U of M - Dearborn for another semester for one class. PLEASE HELP!

Did you check if that class is mandatory before transferring because if it is, you won’t be accepted into CoE regardless of your other merits. I would look into that to make sure. Otherwise, you look just fine. Your GPA and credits are all that really matter for transfer admissions and you’re doing great there.

You might want to fit that Physics class into your schedule somewhere. I’m not saying not completing the COE prereqs will hold you back, but it certainly won’t help you.

Is transfer admission rolling?

I’n not sure. Decisions are not released at a certain date, they are released in no specific order, despite when you applied.

“I’n not sure. Decisions are not released at a certain date, they are released in no specific order, despite when you applied.”

That’s the definition of rolling admissions. Decisions are rolling as in they are released at different dates. For example, UNC doesn’t have rolling admissions and all decisions are released on 4/15 but Michigan releases decisions throughout the semester.

So the earlier we apply the better?

@anthony - Thanks. I thought it was only rolling if decisions were released in the order of which students apply.

@Matisyahu - I’m not sure I would say so. It certainly does not hurt but I can’t say it would help either. I do know they started releasing decisions before the February 1st transfer application deadline for Fall '12 transfers so they MAY look at your application before others are looked at if you apply early enough, but there is certainly no guarantee and there is no guarantee it boosts your application in any manner.

So how early do we need to apply?
Also what is the transfer rate?
