I was wondering if I bring my laptop up there, does the dorm rooms have wireless service or i have to bring a cable port for internet? Also, how accessible are the computers at MHC? I notice that not every residence halls have computer rooms so does that mean we have to go to the library to use the computer?

Is it worth it to buy a laptop or just use the computers there? I read that every dorm room have a computer? Something to that extend? Can someone clarify? Thank you!

Supposedly all of the dorms have wireless (I think), but I would bring a cable for the Internet just in case. Actually, I think when I was a first-year (quite a while ago) they gave me a long green Internet cable, although I believe that was before they claimed to have campus-wide wireless. Anyway, I know I had wireless in my dorm last year, but I was in the New Dorm. (I have no idea about 1837.) The year before that I was in Abbey and I’m pretty sure I didn’t get wireless. I think you can expect to have wireless in your dorm, but I would bring a cable just to be safe. I’m sorry I can’t be of more help.

I would DEFINITELY bring your laptop, rather than use the school computers. (They tend to crash, freeze, and lose ink in the printers at inopportune times!) Wireless service is pretty much accessible in all of the dorm common rooms, but can be a little shaky in the rooms themselves. 1837, if I remember correctly, isn’t bad for signal, but every first-year is provided with an Ethernet cable, which hooks up to a jack in your dorm room. Each dorm has a jack for every resident of the room. If you get totally stuck, your Ethernet should work.

I think they’re actually working on making every dorm wireless this summer, so you may not even have a problem!
