Wisc-Madison vs. UConn

I was having a tough time choosing between UWisc and UConn Honors. Uconn gave me 2 scholarships for a total of about $48,000, but I thought that UWisc was a better school. I'm looking to do BME/Pre-Med. Thank you in advance for your help.

wisconsin might have a better reputation, but not by much, and being in honors at conn definitely makes up for it (IMO).

Wisconsin is definitely a better school. However, if you are in Uconn honors and have 2 scholarships and want to do pre-med I'd say Uconn is the way to go. This is because the honors program will greatly help you and as long as you get that gpa, some research and MCAT score it won't matter that much where you went

UW has 80 National Academy members, UConn has 2. Many of the UW members are in the biosciences and UW does the most bio research of any school in the US. It's reputation is far better than UConn in that regard (and overall). But $48,000 is a lot of money and I am sure UConn will provide a fine ug education too.

UW is a much more interesting and dynamic place to go to school but unless money is no object--I'd say UConn plus the $$$.

If money wasn't a matter would it be an easy choice of UW over UConn honors? Also I was wondering how important is it that you go to a good ug if you plan on going to grad/med school? I guess the actual point i'm trying get at is UConn at about in-state price really a better value than UW at full price

Yes. UW has a far more intellectual climate in a far more interesting town. It's the best four years of your life so why blow it if $$$ is not important.?

I agree.

UW-Madison.

A different experience than UConnecticut, in part, due to its Midwestern location.

If money is not an object, then Wisconsin. Even if you got into the honors program at UConn, there isn't much you cannot get at Wisconsin if you take the initative. But in terms of overall experience, Wisconsin is hard to match. But $50,000 is nothing to sneeze at. That's a whole year of medical school. So be sure that you plan well financially.

Tough to pass up that money...
