for premed, BU or UWisc?

I was admitted and I'm considering now, too late tho.
But I really don't know where I go.
I'm interested in being a doctor.
Which school is better to be a doctor?

Either school would work. Wisc. is know more for Biology, if thats what you want to major in. But you could get what you need at either one

I think the decision should really come down to location/atmosphere, because Wisconsin and Massachusetts are quite different

Since you want to be a doctor my first thought is money. Even OOS, the cost of attending UWisconsin is about 30k/yr, while BU is about 45k. That's 60K more over 4 years, is BU worth that? What about UWashington since you're instate and it has a wonderful (and cheap) med school for later? As a pre-med it's important to save $$, get at least a 3.5 gpa and prepare for your MCAT's. Those should be some of the most important things you think about in picking a school.

Why would you pay more to attend a lower ranked school? I understand BU is still a solid school in an urban location with a diverse student body, though.

Wisconsin has one of the strongest biology programs in the country and produces the second highest number of med school applicants in the country. Save the 60-70K for med school @ Madison.

Because rankings aren't the end all of all college decisions. If finances aren't a concern for him, then go with fit. Wisconsin and Boston are definitely different, visit and choose.

Are you looking for an awesome collegetown and a typical, fun college experience? Then goto Wisconsin definitely. The campus is absolutely amazing, possibly the best of any I visited.

If you're looking for a school with a more urban and independent feel, then goto BU definitely.

UW is much stronger in the sciences than BU and it'll save you a lot of money as well. Like someone said before, it really depends on what you want out of college.

Even though UW is an amazing school, UWashington would provide a great, cheap education as well and let you save a lot of money for medical school.

I need to correct one stat I made an error on. The chart showing med school applicants was broken down by race. UW is second in white applicants but when you add Asians and others that UW has relatively fewer of, the UC schools and some others have lots so the total numbers are different. They did not have a total for all races in the chart.

Yeah...I think school's ranking doesn't matter in the top 100 schools, especially, for undergraduate. As I'm asian, I might go to BU. I was considering for 4~5 months cuz this choosing problem. I called BU yesterday, officers were awesome differently from UWisc; it is personal impression tho. Anyway, I deeply appreciate you guys' replies.

P.S. Actually, now i'm attending UWashington as a visiting student.
