Withdrawal Question

Already accepted to UCI, UCSD,

But I have a dilemma on my class in Linear Algebra

Its part of my major requirement for comp sci, but I'm not doing too well, and teacher is bleh in teaching also

Sucks that its a one day night class as well
I have a question on how it would affect my admissions if i Withdraw from the class and take it in summer

Should I withdraw or hopefully understand and pass with a C
Need advice :(
Thanks!

One day night classes suck. At least for me.

If you don’t think you can do it, e-mail the school’s admissions to ask them what you should do. They would probably make you stick it out…

Good luck! [:

Damn, going to be harsh, I’ll talk to the school admissions tomorrow

jdea: i know for sure UCSD would be okay with it as long as you meet the minimum requirements. i think its better to just withdraw and avoid getting a bad grade

Hey Jdea, let me know what admission says, I’m in a similar boat for my stat class, but I’m an English major, so it’s just a bare min. quantitative reasoning class for IGETC.

Yeah, this class is pretty hard, + teacher isn’t that great at teacher, + one day night class

But I have to say that it isn’t exactly the easiest class to teach since its more abstract
I’m leaning towards withdrawing, I don’t think I’ll be able to complete with a passing grade :frowning: Been focusing on other classes like chem and physics and comp sci

Ugh

Totally feel ya, good luck!

Get a C and be done with it.
DON’T DROP…
If you W that… you are pretty much troubled.
However, getting a C should be okay since you are accepted anyways. Your school is not LA or CAL… so I am not especially worried.

It depends on what schools allow to complete pre-req classes in the summer. Irvine will probably let you, but I don’t know about UCSD. I know UCLA and Berkeley don’t allow that. I suppose it is also bad to take CR (Credit) for the class if it is for your major? I took a CR for French 3, but it does not matter because it had nothing to do with my major.

So I should stick it out and try to get a C?

My main plan is to go to Irvine, and I’m already planning summer school there as well
So Irvine would probably allow me to retake it in the summer?

This would be the first W i’ve ever had

*bump!

Just need some people’s thoughts on this issue :)

I am sticking it out, I’ll have to take it either way, explain it either way,
and it’s so close to the end – you know what you have to do, you know you have to work hard, and if youre confused-- worse comes to worse, hire a tutor and have him/her tutor you through finals. At least thats what my professor told me almost verbatim.

I’m in a similar situation, I have my stat class to pass, I opted to hire a tutor for a couple hours a week (one month till finals) and also go to free tutoring during the week before class.
In any case though, I know you can do it! just stick it out!

I think I’m going to withdraw from this class :frowning: Hope it’ll be okay for the admissions process, under the provisional requirements its not listed there to be completed, and I’ll be completing the class in summer

I’ve been trying to contact admissions, no luck so far, they don’t respond instantly, takes them a while so its bleh

Hope its okay guys, I feel so disappointed :(

I know theres a better teacher in summer, and a few other classmates are going to be taking that class as well
