Wondering what I should do?

After High School I went to a state university, where I dropped out for personal reasons. Except at that time I was stupid and did not officially drop my classes so I have quite a few f's on my transcript. Years later here I am at a community college, doing well, and ultimately did the same thing (family emergency). I am re-taking those failed classes this semester and have no doubt I can get A's in both (I was before I "dropped" them).

Here is my question, do I have a chance to transfer to a state school in North Carolina, or should I just get an associates degree from my CC? I predict my gpa will be around a 2.8-3.6 when I graduate...depending if they coun't the f's from my first school and if they accept or deny my re-takes.

Also, I have 3 semesters of work left, should I apply for fall 2010 and explain that I will be finishing during summer semester? Or take next summer off and finish fall 2010 and try to transfer for spring 2011?

Your transfer GPA on applications will have to include your Fs. If including the Fs doesn’t bring your GPA below 2.0, then you might consider transferring. But I suspect with your academic history, you will be a much stronger applicant if you graduate from community college first.
