Word of Advice for Indiana

It's still rather expensive, even with the faculty award. All that basically does is pay for my room and board, LOL. Parents still looking for some more aid to come with the FAFSA. But I have a feeling I won't qualify for much more, and they won't meet it.

Faculty Awards

Faculty Awards are automatically awarded to non-residents who have exceptional SAT or ACT scores, class ranks, and GPAs. These awards are renewable for a maximum of four years and can be valued up to $28,000 ($7,000 per year). No separate application is necessary for consideration.

Thanks, I already got a 6,000 faculty award per year, lol.

Or, you could look at it this way, Wolves. The faculty award gets the OOS tuition much closer to U of M's in-state rates (no awards would come from them), and each school has comparable room and board rates. And, IU said you could appeal for more $ if you submit your 1st semester senior transcipt.

Good info about the Scholarship Appeals. Will do, i'll just send my senior year update letter i'm doing for Michigan with some touches.

A2Wolves, look at it this way - 24K is one year free! ;-)

dont forget the selective service scholarships as well as the direct admit automatic scholarships, money there too.

i hope i get some need based aid through fafsa, gona need it (oos), mi bro goes to private school (43,000 year) and he got alot of aid, only loaned 4,000 and rest was covered so im hoping i get some decent aid too. btw if anione knos, does submitting fafsa in january increase possible aid amount for IUB? and can we list debts etc. on fafsa and is it counted? thanks anione who answers :)

No, I didn't get the selective service application, I didn't qualify for that, and the direct admit scholarships I don't qualify for either. It's going to depend on aid for IU.

u applied t o HHC and if you're accepted dont they give u one?

I didn't apply to HHC, because I didn't meet minimum requirements. I'd have to apply separately, and they don't give scholarships to non auto-admit students.

What's HHC? Can you get any of these if you're OOS applying directly to business?

Hutton Honors College=general honors notation

I had Cs in Alg 2 H Spanish 3 H Calculus Ap English 3 ap and english 4 ap.

So people with C's.... there is a LOT OF HOPE for you guys.

Yeah I got in last week with 34 ACT and 3.6 weighted GPA...

Here's a run down of my C's:

9th grade- Acc Algebra 2

10th grade- AP US history, Pre Calc (both semesters)

11th grade- Acc English 11, Calculus

LOL hah this is like the whos got the msot C's but got in to IUB competition ha well u guys beat me but :

1 C in Spanish 1
1 C in Pre-Calc Honors

both C's in 2nd semester...

Let's put it this way given grades you might have a chance in my opinion but I am only in high school so what fdo i know. I am applying in few monthsI have hjad a few c's in like honors geometry but i am junior and have a 4.183 so I think i have decent chnace and am ranked 15th our of 454?. I think I have a decent chance don't count yourself out becasue of some bad grades I pulled mine up since frosh year.

Ok I am joining this competition for the number of C's

Frosh year: Hon geometry First I think all year I really don't want to remember it
Oh yes and in yearbook honestly hated that class just screwed around ALL year passedthe exam with flying colors!! haha

But anyway I am beat

I had a C+ in AP English that was weighted to a B-, but that's the only C i've got.

you guys think the admissions is a lot more intense than it is. i think i have a 3.0 (my school is out of 100, i have an 85 avg) and 1280 SAT, sent my app in december, it was received on the 29th, and i was accepted twelve days later, out of state (NY). i have a lot of extracurricular stuff but i don't think that mattered. and i had tons of Cs and Ds (not that i'm proud of them, i'm just awful at math and science) and As and Bs to balance it out.

i really don't think admission is that competitive- not that it's a bad school.

Again, like I posted to the other poster who had a 3.0, this is the exception and not the rule.
