<p>If the OP means the people who shape their lives according to what they think Harvard wants, and who also haunt CC asking for people to advise them on their Harvard essays and what they should say in their interviews, then I agree, those people aren’t likely to get into Harvard.</p>
<p>The people who tend to get in IMO likely have the self confidence to pursue their own interests and to write their essays and be themselves in their interviews. They also figure if who they really are isn’t appealing to Harvard, then they will be better served by going to a school that appreciates them for who they are.</p>
